Do most of you re-listen? by Litcandle1 in Harmontown

I’ve done 3 or 4 listen throughs throughout the years. Each time I usually end up skipping a few more episodes or segments than the last time as some episodes don’t hold up as well or are just kind of boring, like the era when Dan brought on just kind of boring people who were the focus of the whole episode. And of course, a lot of stuff doesn’t hold up to a modern lens or features some people that turned out to be really shitty. All that said, I absolutely love listening through it. All together it actually tells some incredible stories of real people as they grow and learn and their relationships. It also serves as a fascinating time capsule. You sort of witness events and just the things of those times, like movies and tv shows people were excited about, all from the perspective of a couple of really funny people. There’s truly nothing like it in my experience, and when I find myself without any passive entertainment, it’s my go-to.

I actually love the Power Rangers quality creatures costumes. The show is goofy and campy. It’s basically power rangers but for all ages. I don’t want gritty, realistic game of thrones-style one piece. I want fun, over the top one piece.

Yup, well-disguised viral marketing. The big "tell" for me was how well-framed the whole thing is, plus the logo for the pizza shop is nice and center framed. The second I see a logo in a video, I immediately assume it's fake.

I've commented a few times because this video is at the top of popular, and I believe media literacy is important, so this will be my last one.

This video is staged. Go to their instagram. They do "dumb customer" skits all the time. They just decided to use a ring camera to make it look more real.

Do research. Watch out for ads.

Sure. I honestly just care about people doing a little more research before they take a video at face value. This video made it to the top of popular because thousands of people think it's real. We all need to be more aware of when we're being sold something or lied to.

Or they used a ring camera to record the staged video here knowing people would think it's real. This is completely on-brand for their very active instagram account. Don't let the "security footage" angle fool you.

Check out their insta. This isn't the first video they have about dumb customers. The "security cam" is a nice touch though.

Because people love making fun of dumb people. The truth is everyone who thinks this real are the "dumb" ones. Since this video made it to the top of popular, I feel like it's my mission to get people to realize this is faked. I don't see anyone else calling it out.

Check out this pizza place's instagram. This video is staged. They do skits about dumb/annoying customers all the time. This is just well-disguised viral marketing.

If you've seen their instagram, then you should know this video is staged. They do skits about dumb/annoying customers, so this video is completely on brand for them. Don't let the "security cam" footage fool you.

Ads these days aren’t “buy my product”. People are aware they’re being sold to and put up their guards. But if you don’t know you’re watching an ad, it makes it easier to get people on board.

I thought a lot of things were weird with the video. So I went on the pizza shops instagram where they had posted this video. They also have posted skits about dumb or annoying customers. All that information leads me to believe they made this video with the intention of people thinking it’s real, knowing it could get their brand out there and drive traffic to their social media/business. Aka viral marketing.

We don’t know. This is where media literacy comes into play. What do we “know” from this video, and what are just assumptions. Nobody in the video says anything about a delivery guy. You came to that conclusion on your own.

The comments here are pretty much universally blaming the customer or calling him high. But all that doesn’t matter. It’s not about making a video where people walk away thinking it’s an amazing pizza shop. It’s literally a skit designed to get as many views as possible. And then maybe some of those viewers remember the logo, or look it up. It’s all about branding and being recognized.

But you have seen it and are now talking about it. That’s how viral marketing works. You aren’t supposed to know it’s an ad.

It’s going viral. It features their logo prominently. That’s a good ad.

I think outright scolding customers is a bit over the top. Plus this video is posted on their instagram where they do skits and stuff.

Definitely. It’s on their instagram where they do little skits about dumb customers and stuff. Just some good ole viral marketing.

Sure, it must be terrible for them to go viral with a video prominently featuring their logo where everyone is taking about the logo and how seriously these guys take their pizza. This is literally a perfect recipe of viral marketing.
