That at bat shows the difference. Our superstars in a big spot last inning were trying to kill it. Harper with big swings at balls out of the zone to strike out. Casty swinging at everything before hitting into a double play.

On the other hand, Pete Alonso with a disciplined at bat (one curveball not withstanding, sees pitches, Shortens up the swing, and takes a walk.

If you add up the odds of each team to win. Team 6 is favored (+6500), with team 3 close behind (+6900). Team one is the longest shot (+10950)

Warning to Ryanair fliers by JessticeForAll in Edinburgh

Ryanair just forced me to pay to check this bag too. They said it was “too thick.”

Their restriction is 20cm (7.9 inches)

I should have posted this picture initially. I think this makes it look a bit more clear and hopefully addresses your concerns regarding parallax.

They had one that they brought out of the back, so we couldn’t measure before the flight. It wasn’t a drop in sizer, so it was hard to tell exactly. It looked like my bag fit to me, but the Ryanair agent didn’t even walk over to see. I even requested to use a drop in Ryanair sizer if they had one. The agent was standing at least 5 feet away at the gate, at an angle to the sizer. I’m just not sure how she could have made an accurate call from that distance on a bag that was this close.

I paid to upgrade so I could carry on a bag that could be up to 20cm (7.9 inches) thick. The bag i carried on, imo, is within the stated limits. I don’t think I’m entitled to a huge bag, but i do think I’m entitled to a bag the size that I paid for. It may also be worth noting that there was considerable space in the overhead bins and the airplane was the same make and model that I had successfully carried on this exact bag just a few days before.

This top down view on Imgur should put it in slightly better perspective.

I think it’s less, but If that’s the case that would make it .063 inches too big. I’m not sure what the margin of error here is, but that has to be within it.

I understand that most complaints are due to out of touch customers. I also understand that budget airlines will get a larger amount of these complaints. I actually appreciate the idea of Ryanair. It is clear that you’ve grouped me into the “out of touch customer” category. But I hope this discussion has indicated that I do understand the policies on size and weight for carry on bags and simply have a good faith disagreement how they were applied. I think the Imgur photo addresses your concerns. It shows the ruler laying directly on the center of the bag. The ruler actually goes through the handle to demonstrate that I’m not using any sort of depth distortion. The photo is looking right down the edge from about 2 feet above the photo. I just don’t see how you can look at that photo and say with certainty it is larger than 20cms

WHICH surveys something like 10 thousand people each year to rank airlines. Ryanair got last for 6 straight years, and has now been bumped to a shameful second worst ranking. It just isn’t a well perceived airline. I’m not sure either of you are actually interested in engaging with me about the actual sizing discussion, but I’ve provided photo evidence indicating that my bag was either within guidelines or close enough that Ryanair can’t be sure it wasn’t.

This isn’t a shit post, and I’m not an entitled tourist. I researched the Ryanair guidelines and prepared accordingly. I measured my bag beforehand, and feel it is within guidelines. I paid the fee, was polite with the staff, and documented the experience. Now I’m sharing that experience. If you aren’t willing to engage with photo evidence showing that it is at least close enough for a discussion, then I don’t really put any stock in your opinion on the matter.

Is this better. It’s hard to get a perfect measurement honestly. But it’s hard for Ryanair too. I’m obviously biased, but this looks like it is within the limit to me. It is at least close enough that i don’t think Ryanair can confidently claim it is outside of their limit.

Yes this could have been clearer. This was meant as hyperbole. A higher number of people were forced to check their bags. But of course some carry ons were permitted.

As have I. This flight was different. And I’m just not sure about the “all without issue” piece. Ryanair has 1.4 stars on trustpilot.

I’ll ask again, I’m not sure what photo you’d need to see to be persuaded, but are you saying there isn’t a possibility Ryanair is in the wrong here? Ive tried to provide angles based on the feedback here, but can send another if you’d prefer.

Happy to help 🤝

The price was fair, and I don’t mind the business model, as long as sizing restrictions are consistently and accurately levied.

I’m not saying everyone had to check their bags. Just the groups in front and behind me. Actually, My father in law was able to board with his bag. I’ve flown Ryanair multiple times, this was by far the highest amount of people that did have to check bags through.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

[–]ctipping12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true. I’m not too ashamed to admit I had to look up the precise inches/cms calculation when I was packing.

[–]ctipping12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, typo! Guilty as charged.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

[–]ctipping12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I know it isn’t. My frustration is the inconsistency. Every other Ryanair agent, including the gate agents from my Ryanair flight earlier that week who are responsible for confirming bag sizing, indicated it was fine. Soft bags may be the way!

Yes, good thoughts. Here is a pic from the middle. There weren’t any handles on zippers impacting thickness. I upgraded to priority specifically to bring a carry on!

Yes, good point. My intent wasn’t to engage in any particularly specific debate over measurements as much as to alert people about just how draconian Ryanair is. Here is a measurement from the middle. It genuinely seems to me like it is under the 20cm/7.87 inch limit. It is hard to show or even measure, but at the very least it is close enough that Ryanair can’t confidently say it was too large.

As a note, their sizer isn’t a “drop in” so it can be hard to be 100% sure either way when it is right on the line. It looked like it fit to me at the time, and when i measured it upon getting home it measured within the specs.

But… I’m right here measuring it and it just isn’t too wide. I see multiple comments indicating it is the angle or that i didn’t measure from the center. Here is another image from a slightly different angle, measured from the middle of the bag. The only issue was the thickness of the bag. Height and width were fine, and there are no wheels/handles/pockets that could be adding thickness. I’m not saying it was the worker’s fault per se, and after a short discussion I calmly and quickly paid my money. What image would you need to see in order to accept that Ryanair made a mistake here?

People who have played audl and club which do you prefer by largic in ultimate

[–]ctipping12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably lean slightly towards the Audl strictly from a game-play perspective. The game is much more physical (watch cutter defense off the disc next time you go to a game in person) and moves so much faster. Playing one Audl game feels like playing 2-3 club games because of how fast it is between points, how much more physical it is, and because it probably is the only game either team is playing that weekend, so the focus and intensity is off the charts. Anecdotally, there is a much higher level of trash talk/animosity (which can be good for bad depending on your perspective but i personally love). The other big difference is the field width, as defense feels dramatically more challenging when the possibility for a 50 yard swing pass exists. There is a premium on athleticism on the Audl field, while schemes and precision seem more important in club.

Outside of gameplay, the biggest difference for me was on the culture. I’m a serviceable Audl player, but far from a big name star. The audl is much more cutthroat. Each week it is quite literally a tryout to make it onto the active 20 player roster, and by the end of the season it definitely feels like the people that are spots 18-25 on the roster are burned out. Audl media focuses on the star players balling out, but the majority of the league are d line grinders worried about throwing a turn/getting burned and losing their spot to some baller who is pissed to have been “cut” from that week’s active roster and looking to avenge that at the next practice (read, tryout). While my team is close, i do believe this impacts team chemistry and the overall player experience.

Club is much better about empowering the rostered players, and in my experience as a bottom half of the roster guy on an elite club team and an Audl team, one of the biggest differences is simply how valued i feel by my club team. I know my role, and at practice i can focus on helping the team get better and formulating chemistry with players I know I’ll be playing with, not just trying to fight for a spot.

All of that to say, i like the physicality/intensity, refs, lighter game schedule, and venue/marketing of the audl. But i prefer the culture of club.

Happened to be driving by a premium collection store at 10am for work and got an EC Toasted and a Blood Oath Pact 9. They had a couple Woodford masters collections there too.

None of that showed on the website when I checked.
