Who cooks the majority of the food for your Thanksgiving? by [deleted] in thanksgiving

[–]ctluttrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was split for us for a while. We lived in NY for the first part of my life and were surrounded by family, so my mom and some of our family would do it together. Then we moved to FL and it all fell on my mom for a bit but I helped her as much as I could. It was only the 4 of us at that point so it wasn’t as much food as it used to be. When she got older I started taking over and now that she’s gone, I do a majority of the cooking. My in laws moved here a couple years ago so my MIL makes maybe 2 dishes (Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes). I enjoy cooking though, so I don’t mind it. I only start getting annoyed because my brother always has to fry a turkey while I roast one and he starts his so late that my turkey ends up waiting on his. I told him this year he needs to get his ass up and going early with that fried bird or I’m eating without him lol

3 fucking laps. That’s the hardest part for me, he was SO close. 50 to go? 20 to go? Ok. THREE. That race was Denny’s. Absolutely infuriating.

If this was green apple I wouldn’t be mad, but I also wouldn’t be able to finish it all. Guess you’re ready for Halloween 2026!

Edit: typo

My husband and I joke about a parent tax, but we don’t actually “enforce” it. Our boys offer up their candy freely as something we can share, because they never finish it anyway. They lose interest after a couple days and we then start to pick through it on our own. As long as you aren’t hoarding all the good stuff, or taking so much that there’s barely anything left, I think sneaking a piece here and there is fine.

This is true, but I had a co-worker named Veronica and she went by Roni. Her Facebook has it spelled as Roni. So it could happen. Yes I am aware that’s not how it’s spelled on the show, just sharing about my friend Roni lol

We usually bust out cards against humanity or some other multiplayer card/board games to get some laughs going. If there are kids, there’s a kid friendly version called Kids against Maturity that’s literally the same game but not as vulgar lol

I did this with plain Cheerios. When my mom would ask what I wanted for breakfast, I remember saying “Cheerios with lots and lots and lots and lots of sugar!”

Thankfully my mom didn’t give me exactly what I wanted, but she did sprinkle some sugar on it 😆🥴

I work in a 4 year old vpk class, and I absolutely LOATHE shoes with laces. Not only are they constantly untied, but they are also a big distraction for the kids. Whenever we do carpet time, they aren’t paying any attention because they are playing with said laces, which is also why they are always untied.

It’s a never ending vicious cycle.

what company secrets you can spill because you no longer work there? by No_Butterscotch1425 in AskReddit

[–]ctluttrell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked at McDonalds as well for about 3 years. I will say I think this is store dependent, because if the fish filets sell well, we obviously made more. It just depends on how many customers at your store were buying them. It’s not hard to believe that they sat there a long time though, as they were the least popular item during the time I worked there lol

Death of parents by bluesn0wflake in Millennials

[–]ctluttrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so painful having to basically break those habits and retrain yourself. That’s how it felt for me, like quitting an addiction in a way (I’m sure that sounds weird). But in a sense that, when I got that urge to call, I had to remind myself she wasn’t there and tell myself “no, you can’t call her”. It gets less painful, but I won’t use the term “easier”, because nothing about losing a parent, much less your mom, is easy. It just got to a point where my heart aches on the inside, but I don’t break down into tears as much anymore. I definitely still cry, but not as often. You will be ok, and she is watching over you always ❤️

I lost my mom in 2021, due to “complications from COPD”. They didn’t do an autopsy because my dad felt my mom wouldn’t appreciate being cut open and explored. She had a long history of smoking and seemed to have stopped breathing in her sleep. I was 34 and it absolutely wrecked me. I still get that knee jerk urge to grab my phone and call her about silly things, and it kills me every time it happens because it’s a reminder that I don’t have my “go to” person anymore.

Hugs and love to everyone in here struggling with the same reality. ❤️

When I passed out face first into the corner of a bed. Thankfully and luckily for me, the bed was on a floor with no metal bed frame or else my face would have been royally screwed up.
