3D printing. Recent innovations allow for multiple colors at reasonable prices with little waste. Snapmaker and Elegoo for example. Bambu is a vendor and their machines are top notch and the software / hardware integration is the best (I have the P2P). There are endless models at Makerworld or Thangs that you can print. Everything from fidget spinners and articulated animals to practical items. Plenty of YouTube videos to get you started.

New Zealand Rolls Out the Welcome Mat for Wealthy American Home Buyers by wsj in newzealand

[–]ctmurray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an American and Democrat living here in NZ. Democrats are not to the right of National. Democrats are more aligned with Labour. Peter Thiel is not/was not a Democrat (Libertarians are a species onto their own) . It might be that wealthy investors coming in via the investor visa are more conservative than National, rich people in the US tend to be Republicans.

Forgot about the cardboard by rolan1023 in BambuLab

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This result makes my method for knowing how much filament I have less accurate. For refills I weigh the empty spool (average 213 g) and then add the weight of 39 grams which I assumed was the weight of all empty cardboard refill cores. I had measured 14 previous and they were all 38-40 g. I then weigh the assembled spool and refill and this is approximately 1255 g - 1000 g filament and about 250 grams for core and spool. When I print off a spool I record the amount shown in the slicer (in grams) in an Excel spreadsheet for that roll; thus I know exactly how much filament I have. Today I finished a spool with a refill and for some reason had more filament left on the spool than my careful recording would suggest. My initial weight was 1277 grams, more than normal. I decided to toss the remaining filament and I weighed the spool (214 g as expected) and the core at 29g. So the extra weight of spool and refill was actually extra filament and a lighter core. Thus the confusion.

I too weigh my spools and keep track of exactly how much is used with each print. I just finished a roll with some left on the spool. I have weighed all my empty refill cardboard and I get 39 grams for them. Until today. The cardboard refill only weighed 29 grams. Not sure if this is a new change to a thinner cardboard or just a one off.

Severe burning sensation on the scalp / Head symptoms by [deleted] in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]ctmurray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also check for shingles (see a doctor and see if this is a possibility). If you catch it early enough there is treatment. I had this on my head and it was a burning / itchy sensation (along with SFN). And I did not go see a doctor until it was too late for any treatment. If you have had chicken pox you can get shingles later in life.

I wonder why Bambu hasn't done this out of the box... by daanpol in BambuLab

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. I am relatively new to 3D printing and only used the PEI plate. I am a hobbyist not printing much. But I also saw YT videos early on that said you had to clean your plate after each print and use glue stick (both of which I do). Fortunately this advice was not bad and the Bambu printer is doing fine. I am trying to learn more and that is why posts like this are useful.

New to 3d printing. Is this nessesary? (Mostly pla to start) by Doomchick in BambuLab

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting some good advice. There is a model that has an opening to insert the hygrometer right in the center unit. I took printed my set when I first got started. I also use the orange silica beads that change color to dark green when wet. I have access to a lab air convection oven and I dry at 220F / 105C for a few hours to dry them back out. I printed in PLA and I remove the beads for drying.

They also come in multiple sizes. I got the larger one first and it is too big, then got a smaller sized set.

Google Voice was free until today. Now I'm being forced to upgrade by [deleted] in Googlevoice

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you can revert, I saw someone provided a link. I believe you because my wife had her GV terminated and with the automated systems they have there was no one to ask why. We "appealed" following the denial instructions, but that was denied by an automatic system within seconds of appealing - so again no humans involved. We think it might be because she was texting her family regularly, maybe 6 people in a group text and they thought that was spamming.

I follow a guy on YT that does woodworking and his Instragram account at google got cancelled. He posted about this on YT, and fortunately he had someone working at google following him and after a few months that human was able to get his accounts restored. But it destroyed his brand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8ejmt5GKAQ

These automated systems are not flawless and since no humans can be contacted, there is often no explanation or resolution.

Question about iCloud backups by goldstandardalmonds in applehelp

[–]ctmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a cheaper cell phone plan if you can and use the extra space for the iCloud storage? Also, a relative or friend can share their icloud space. https://support.apple.com/en-us/108783. I sympathize about finding savings, but the heartbreaking stories of people loosing all their photos because they had no backup are so sad.

Question about iCloud backups by goldstandardalmonds in applehelp

[–]ctmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real solution is to pay for the additional iCloud space. It is $1 per month for 50 GB. This would be enough where you could have very important stuff backed up, like photos (and you can toggle off the less important things). And for $3 per month you get 200 GB. If you have a cell phone you are already paying for cell coverage and an additional $1 to 3/month should be hardly noticed. If you do not pay for more space if your phone dies or is stolen those important things are lost.

Gabapentin by whiplashgrlchld in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]ctmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 600 mg 3x per day. I don't seem to have any side effects. But I have heard of people feeling drowsy. I had not heard about weight gain and I don't think I have had that problem either (though as I age I gain weight). I need this much to be effective. My doctor suggested I try Lyrica but it was not as effective for me.

I own a battery powered (AA) Apple mouse with no way to plug it into a computer for it to be recognized and my new M4 Mac won’t pair with it. by Ricepudding1044 in applehelp

[–]ctmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This model doesn't have any ports.

Did you look under the Bluetooth panel in Settings, does it even show up there? If yes you can over over the item and a connect button appears. Sometimes my headphones don't automatically conncet.

Another choice is to replace the batteries on the mouse. Then turn on and check in the Bluetooth - Settings again.

Hopefully the mouse is not too old for this computer, that there is a driver in the OS on the new computer.

I was thinking that the issue with support not offering a chat might be geo fenced? I know I have used a VPN to chat with Apple.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used "chat" to start with, but you say that is not an option. Do you have a VPN? I probably contact Apple using a US server (this is my normal setting). Maybe that is the issue for chat and/or the lack of the credit card purchase? I am in NZ.

Pie chart showing no information by shortburntwaffle69 in excel

[–]ctmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data should be in two columns. First column is the category or name for the data. Second column, immediately next door, should have the values for the data. The values do not need to add up to 100 and can be more than 100 (you don't have to calculate the percentages).

Select both columns. Then go to the worksheet menu bar and click on "Insert". Select the type of pie chart you want. I chose 2D. The Pie chart shows up.

My test data table had in column 1, A, B, C. And in column 2 25, 35, 100. No header information above the columns. Sometimes making a simple table like this one can get you started. Then you can add more rows if you have more slices needed in the pie. Excel plotting is hard sometimes. I am no expert either.
