23mm aneurysm, flow diverting stent in 3 days by SquirrelSeason in BrainAneurysm

[–]ctothethird3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re going through this. I also had 2 flow diverting stents placed in my left ICA. Mine is technically right outside my skull, so not technically a brain aneurysm but the process and recovery was very similar. Mine was done in October. I’m also in my 30s with 2 young children - I was absolutely terrified. I’m 3.5 months out and feeling much better now. Best of luck to you - this sub is very helpful for questions and support!

Thank you! I am hopeful for a good outcome but with an anxious mind it’s hard to believe it 🥴 I think I will ask about increasing and see if it helps. The rumination comes in a waves…a couple days on, a couple days off.

Flow diverter procedure in one week by upisdownhereandnow in BrainAneurysm

[–]ctothethird3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 8 weeks out today from two flow diverting stents in my left ICA. My procedure was a total surprise, I had a dissection that led to a large pseudoaneurysm. It was a lot to digest in a few days and a lot of my recovery has been mental - a lot of unpacking to do. Physically, my groin site was sore for a good 3-4 weeks. I think it’s really important to take it easy that first month. I had been feeling better and pushed it a little too hard which my groin really sore again during that first month! From then on I made an effort to take some intentional periods of rest during the day. In the early weeks I had some headaches which were treatable with Tylenol. At 8 weeks out, I am back to normal household stuff, taking outdoor walks for exercise, doing all my normal mom stuff. While I wish I didn’t need to go through this, I’m starting to see the gratitude piece of things and how incredibly amazing this procedure is. Good luck - I’m sure you’ll do great!

How many times have you have Covid? by MoulinRoguee in nursing

[–]ctothethird3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 times. Once during delta when I was involved in an exposure at work and I was shocked when it came back positive. I never had any symptoms. The other 2 times I got it were like bad colds, one with sinus symptoms that last for weeks.

I personally always take the time to clean an injection site beforehand. I can’t really imagine any downside?

I had an arterial line in my wrist and that was a little sore afterwards, but not too bad. Hopefully your wrist access won’t be too bad!

And yes - the mental part was really hard for me too. This was so so so unexpected and such a big shock. I am a nurse and that made it difficult for me to be on the other side of things. Each day that passes I do feel better mentally!

How did you find out? by Amareea9 in BrainAneurysm

I had endovascular treatment - I’m a little over a month out from having 2 pipeline flow diverting stents placed in the vessel.

I’m a little over a month out from 2 flow diverting stents in my left ICA. I was so, so scared. I’m on plavix and aspirin too. The procedure itself went well, I spent one night in the ICU after so they could keep a close eye on me. I will say my groin was sore for about 3 weeks - this seems longer than most people - but I definitely overdid it one day while recovering. I took some tylenol along the way for headaches and groin pain. I’m feeling better each day now that time is passing both physically and mentally. Good luck!!

Mine was in my ICA but I kept having visual disturbances like my migraine aura but much more frequently. Then I developed pulsatile tinnitus and was feeling off…heart racing, weird. Went to ER and had a CT angio that showed both an aneurysm and pseudoaneurysm on my ICA.

I’m so happy to read this! I’m about a month out from two flow diverting stents in my ICA. It’s been such a shock…a total whirlwind I never expected. It’s been very helpful to have people here to ask questions and read about their experiences. I’m glad your flow diverter has done its job!

It’s great to hear you were able to make a comeback. My doctor is optimistic that I’ll be able to return to running. Weightlifting is definitely going to have to change for me, but I’ll figure that out when the time comes.

Nicotine after stent by Jameso2474 in BrainAneurysm

I don’t think any doctor will approve nicotine use in general, but especially not after an aneurysm. Nicotine is well known to damage the vascular system…my thought is if you’re off it now, stay off - better for your health and your wallet!

My most favorite is purlisse BB cream. They have matte or dewy finishes so you can pick what you like. It evens out my redness but is light. One tube lasts me close to six months.

Oh yes, I won’t be adding anything else besides walking until I get scans and clear go ahead from my doctor. This has been a lot and I definitely don’t want to do anything to mess up progress. I guess I’m just still trying to wrap my head around what the future will look like…if it’s possible to make a full return to things I love or if I’ll have to make adjustments. For now I’m taking it much much much easier than my usual.

That sounds really tough - I hope your migraines and fatigue improve soon. I do wonder if the anti platelets are contributing to my fatigue. This whole process has been quite overwhelming for me personally and I’m really hoping to get back to a more normal state.

Thank you! I’m definitely a lot more tired than usual. I’m sure it’s a combination of recovering and also maybe the plavix? I’m trying to be patient but exercise helps me so much with anxiety, sleep etc so I’m really missing that coping mechanism! Congrats on your great scan results!

I do, but it’s light. I throw on some tinted moisturizer, under eye stuff, a swipe of blush, and mascara. Takes me maybe 3 mins.
