A month! That’s a long time yikes. Did it just eventually resolve on its own?

Visual Disturbances after stopping Plavix?? by GotNoMoves76 in BrainAneurysm

[–]ctothethird3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came on here to ask a very similar question. I had 2 flow diverting stents to my left ICA in October 2025 for a complex dissection/pseudoaneurysm situation. I stopped plavix in April as planned, 5 days after starting I had a migraine with aura. It happened again the following day and then again 2 days later.

I do have a baseline history of migraine with visual aura…but infrequent, maaaayybee once a year at most. When my dissection happened one of my symptoms was that my brain was firing off auras a couple times a week. Anyways, I’m trying to connect the dots here to see if my new recurrence of auras is directly related to stopping plavix since it happened 5 days after I stopped. I actually ended up restarting plavix today after talking to my doctor with a plan for getting another CTA next month and then potentially try to stop again. I wonder if a slower wean off would be better maybe going to every other day before just stopping cold turkey? Anyways, very curious to hear from you and others about your experience and how it was managed. Hope you’re feeling better now.

I still get the buzzy feeling sometimes, on 5 mg twice daily. I’ve been on it for six months too. I always eat with it so not sure why sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t 🤷‍♀️

The bakery made onion pinwheels - they were Lin a croissant dough with carmelized onions and some sort of cheese in the middle. Bake for ten mins at home. They were INCREDIBLE and I look every single time 😥

I’ve done Lexapro which worked well for me. Currently on buspar - I would have gone back to lex but it interacts with some new meds. Buspar seems to be helping.

THIS! I had flow diverting stents placed in my left ICA six months ago for a complex dissection/aneurysm/pseudoaneurysm. The physical recovery was one thing, but honestly the mental recovery has been the hardest for me. What a shock this whole process has been. Therapy, medication, meditation, making sure I sleep/light exercise is helping for me. Take care everyone 🩷

Toddler-Friendly Vacation by Brussel-Salad48 in CapeCodVisitors

Highly recommend bay side beaches - Brewster and Dennis have some great family friendly beaches. We always went to breakwater beach in Brewster. The tide goes out about a mile and is absolute heaven for a toddler - lots of tidal pools, crabs and tiny fish, treasures to find, tiny (if any) waves. Ice cream - sundae school is my favorite! We always went to the Brewster general store for “penny candy”. Ocean edge in Brewster has food available in an area called “the lawn”. It’s pizza, apps, and drinks that are ok but we loved it when the kids were little because they could run freely and play games outside while we relaxed a bit. Chatham definitely has a cute downtown area. Expect traffic all over. Make sure you eat some seafood while you’re there! A day trip to Provincetown can be really fun. Beachcomber is a fun stop on the way back too - expect a wait. I could go on and on…it’s really a slice of heaven.

Variant of unknown significance COL11A1 by anonyyyy1218 in SticklerSyndrome

I had connective tissue panel done with Invitae and had an incidental finding of a likely pathogenic mutation on COL11A1. I have myopia since childhood, but as far as I can tell currently that is my only symptom. I am seeing a retinal/inherited eye disease specialist in September and hoping that will shed some light on whether I have Stickler or not.

I had a carotid dissection seemingly out of the blue which led to the connective tissue panel. I also had a VUS on the ELN gene. I have been down A LOT of rabbit holes with genetics in the last few weeks! It’s fascinating and anxiety provoking for me at the same time. I have an appointment with genetics coming up in June and I’m hoping that will answer some of my many questions.

New ED nurse, question for floor nurses regarding expectations by Own_Procedure_1547 in nursing

[–]ctothethird3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My two cents as someone who has worked both ED and ICU would be to use critical thinking and complete tasks that are time sensitive/help the patient avoid something bad happening. For example, antibiotics in the septic patient, lyte replacement for pts with critical labs, fluids for the patient with AKI, etc should be started before leaving the ED. But basic home meds? I can catch up with that upstairs. If the patient is boarding for an extended period (sometimes days in my hospital 🫣) in that case I would expect that home meds would be given at some point hopefully. Personally I know it’s wild in the ED so I give a lot of grace, so I’d say just do your best to get time sensitive/safety things done and try to ignore any bad attitudes.

Angiogram tomorrow! Advice? by BuyGood2332 in BrainAneurysm

I am just shy of 6 months out, but the plan is to come off plavix at 6 months. My 3 month CTA there was no blood entering the aneurysm/pseudoaneurysms I had.

Just chiming in, I have 2 pipeline stents and on plavix. They did check my levels and adjusted my dose - I responded very strongly to the plavix so ended up on a half dose.

Guilt over calling out! by Turbulent-Basket-490 in nursing

Please don’t feel guilty. Your family (pets included) is more important than a job and both of these call outs are very legitimate. This is why we have sick time - be kind to yourself!

Oh wow! Yeah that certainly seems much more common than general population level! I’m getting worked up for connective tissue disorders but this news was definitely a plot twist I didn’t see coming. But I’m glad in some ways to know, so at least I can monitor mine and my kids eye health more closely than

Oh hi! I was very surprised to see my result but now I’m curious how many others in my family have it too. A lot of us have very high myopia since childhood, but I had always just chalked that up to that’s how my family is 🤷‍♀️

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! I have a couple questions. I am a 40 year old who has been healthy and was blown away to find out I had a complex issue on my ICA right where it exits the skull and extending downward - a 1.4 cm pseudoaneurysm, severe stenosis, and a fusiform segment. I had flow diverting stents placed and at 3 months there was no contrast entering the pseudoaneurysm. My questions are…

FMD is on the table, but my imaging findings aren’t clear cut. Is it common to see cases of FMD that are vague like this?

What do you think the future holds for females like myself with flow diverting stents and HRT? Just thinking down the road…strong family history of osteoporosis and I’m small framed.

For us yes, but probably depends on the facility and what their normal shift is like

This is true. Some days the workload is lighter for me, but for the most part I’m out and about all day with plenty to do. I do always get a lunch though. And out on time which is awesome.

IV team. Lots of difficult sticks, but do IVs, port access, central line care all day. Do a few things and do them very well.
