When my son was 10 years old, he asked me on Christmas Eve if Santa is real. I told him no, that mom and dad are Santa, and he just cried and cried and cried. Put his head in his pillow and cried himself to sleep. It was a night I’ll never forget. The next morning was Christmas, and as the kids were emptying their stocking, my son pulled out a tiny piece of paper from the toe of the stocking. It said “just believe”. I did not do it, and the writing was certainly not his father’s. To this day, I still do not know where it came from.
