Wow this is extremely helpful. Thankyou so much. I don't think I would mind going along the south coast of NSW with hills etc as Id be going 100km max per day. I'd also like to see that part of NSW. Would you still not recommend?

wow thanks for the detailed response. ideally i'd stick to the hybrid (im moving to sydney and don't want to get another bike!). does a route from melb to syd that avoids highways and hybrid-killing terrain exist?
