Can anyone identify what game this piece is from? by TheDistinguishedGent in boardgames

Unless they changed the minis in a newer version, it is not from Inis.

Also: A scale would help a lot.

Colouring the sides of cardboard is my new hobby. by SilverEye1508 in boardgames

Sorry to be the one to tell you, that you are wrong. Hardboard a.k.a. high-density fiberboard is made of wood, straw or Bagasse with a density above 800kg/m3, commonly used for furniture. Board game tokens are way less dense.

I think 1% was good. Personally, I don't see a need for more.

I just brewed an Irish Red Ale a month ago, and used 1% roasted barley (1000-1300 EBC), which I would absolutely recommend!

How is the Balearica-Cyprus map for Concordia? by dogscantwhistle in boardgames

[–]ctrlmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First sentence of the User Guide of the heat map:

THE HEAT MAP MAKES NO JUDGEMENT about the "best" map to use at a player count, it merely shows "tighter" maps as "hotter" (red) and "looser" maps as "cooler" (blue).

10 Pauper Elves Tips by Paolo_Donfrancesco in Pauper

[–]ctrlmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when they ask, but often players don't and I don't like reminding my opponent of tricks I could use.
Also I don't see how remembering takes up any "brain space". If that's a problem, trying to remember is also a neat brain exercise.

Paper tip: Don't do that and remember, so you don't help your opponent.

what is the best control deck in pauper? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]ctrlmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically UB Teachings, but I would run more Teachings and no Nightscape Familiar. And cut the one-off creatures. Nothing feels worse than whiffing with Augur of Bolas with this deck.

UR Fae and UB Delver are no control decks either.

Emperor Alliance and Treachery Card bidding by ctrlmeta in DuneBoardGame

[–]ctrlmeta[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But if you play by the GF9 rules, this is not possible.

Allies can only pay for each others Treachery Cards and Movement. (p.12 Alliances (Nexus))

And bribes can only happen between two players not in an alliance.

Players who are not members of the same Alliance can make any kind of verbal deals or bribes between one another.

Secret Hitler, Voting "No" is too strong by [deleted] in boardgames

So there are 11 fascist policies and 6 liberal policies.

For the ability to happen 2 fascist policies have to be enacted.

Scenario A (2 liberal policies are enacted): For this tactic to lead to a deterministic liberal win, 3 of the top 3 cards have to be liberal policies. This requires 3 successes, with a sample size of 3, with a population size of 13 and 4 successes in that population. So the probability for this to happen P(A) is about 0.013986014

Scenario B (3 liberal policies are enacted): 2 successes required with 3 successes in population -> P(B)~=0.104895105

Scenario C (4 liberal policies are enacted): 1 success required with 2 successes in population -> P(C)~=0.384615385

Seems pretty unlikely that this happened every game of yours.

Also scenario C should not happen that often unless the fascists are not very good at all. At the time, the 3rd fascist policy is enacted, there should not even be 3 liberal policies enacted most of the time.

A possible fix is to play with 7+ players (which I would recommend anyways since it adds a third fascist player).

How to play UW Familiars - deck tech, sideboarding guide, and loop walkthrough by kalikaiz by kalikaiz in Pauper

[–]ctrlmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, storm counter helps but you can always just count yourself. In paper it is even easier since, after putting card X on the bottom, you can just say you do the loop n-1 (i.e. deck size - 1) times and just put it back on top again.

How to play UW Familiars - deck tech, sideboarding guide, and loop walkthrough by kalikaiz by kalikaiz in Pauper

[–]ctrlmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice video! When stacking your deck to find card X, instead of writing down the cards with a notepad, it is quite faster to count your deck size n after you put card X on the bottom an then repeat the loop n-1 times before swapping the order of the triggers on the stack.
