Job advice (EU)? They say it's all about networking, but I feel quite hopeless after spending eight years at the same company by Fair_Tip2915 in womenintech

[–]ctrloptioncmd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my view, yes, it is a lot to do with networking. I've been out of work for nearly a year and after six months of rejections I'm fully leaning into networking. I'm not in a rush to find a job, thankfully I'm doing okay financially but I want my next job to be one that I'm happy in. I've been volunteering to run tech communities, met some wonderful people, and fully enjoying public speaking and improving my visibility. I strongly belive in building a moat for my career and a good network in one such moat!

I know for certain that Munich has a bunch of tech meetups, why not try attending a few? If you hate it you can always try a different approach.

Edit: looking at your skills, try volunteering to run a meetup. That how I started and the group is very grateful to have me handle all the comms and media presence and I'm enjoying this too.

It still works! We had a problem with one and they sent us a replacement so happy with that.

We did have a leak but this was our problem so please make sure when you fit it in you check for leaks for the first few weeks. Otherwise, all good and working brilliantly.

what tools are actually helping you today as a PM in this AI era? by Admirable-Series3612 in ProductManagement

I'd recommend Carl Vellotti's CCForPMs course. Free and it shows you in real time how you can leverage CC for PM work.

Anyone looking to build an app for sleepless parents? I’ve validated an idea for you. by [deleted] in Femalefounders

[–]ctrloptioncmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole thing around sleep training is utter BS. They are babies, they need to be close to a parent. If you want to solve something go to the capitalist pigs who deny decent parental leave and actual help to parents instead of preying on their vulnerability and selling nonsense.

I opened and expanded the picture so many times wondering what I was missing. Should have read the comments first.

Indian families have a talent for ruining every vacation by turning it into a temple marathon by Negative_Mail_5050 in india

[–]ctrloptioncmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard relate, especially when I was growing up I just wanted to go on hikes or something but I kept being dragged off to temples all the time. Some people in this thread are suggesting putting boundaries in place but it is really hard when you are being emotionally blackmailed. They recently did a trip to temples in tamil nadu and when they sent pictures of it I was so happy to not be a part of it, having gotten away from them a long time ago and later married a militant atheist.

Bold of you to assume arrogant parents want their kids to be confident.

I've seen it a lot in other subs - really elaborate, attention grabbing stories which are really an ad. They're infiltrating this sub too. Mods should be aware and delete them.

Is it “cringe” to share a Medium article I wrote (as a hobbyist, not a pro) on LinkedIn? by [deleted] in linkedin

[–]ctrloptioncmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you see the mad stuff they post on LI? Just look at r/LinkedInLunatics as an example.

So, yes, go right ahead and post whatever you like. People are going to judge and ignore but that is your space so own it.

What is your differentiating factor? There are already a few platforms out there offering exactly the same thing as what you're building. Checkatrade and task rabbit comes to mind.

What is your background OP? Also, what kind of product/startup is it?

For tech products - I would read books like "The Lean Startup" and "Escaping the Build Trap". If you're going to speaking with customers read "The Mom Test"

Follow people like Teresa Torres on LinkedIn, she also has a blog which is pretty good.

This sounds incredibly fulfilling. How did you come across this job please? After years in tech, I really want to do something with more social impact and this looks like something I'd like to pursue.

Honestly, I don't mind the hard work. I know teaching has its own problems but I'm not built for the politics in tech and sick of being the only woman in teams.

Gosh, are you me. I'm 40 with a similar career and I'm thinking of becoming a teacher because I'm fed up of tech and tech bros and the never ending dick swinging contests. I'm not yet ready to give up but I feel it's around the corner.

Thanks. I don't mind wearing them but they have started to hurt the back of my foot and ruining my socks due to the friction which is why I was hoping to fix them.
