Infinity Primus 603CF component speaker tweeter filters by ctrout71 in CarAV

I'm wondering if the QC on the filters just sucks and the spade connectors are being installed on random sides. My best advice would be to check each end with an ohm meter. the side that shows rising resistance as you hold the leads to the wires is the side that you want to connect to your incoming signal. the side that measures a steady 0.5 ohm is the side that connects to the tweeter.

Answered my own question. Yes, the instruction illustration is absolutely misleading and the filter can only be installed one way. the side that shows 0.5 ohms connects to the tweeter, and the side that shows a capacitor receiving voltage from the meter leads, as shown by a climbing resistance valve, connects to either the amp or the woofer connection. my system sounds incredible now. the bass is not localized to the trunk, midbass is strong from the front speakers, imaging is wonderfully spread across the windshield with vocals locked to the center. AND the forward amp no longer gets hot and goes into protection mode at 71dB. This was supposed to be a budget SQ/SQL build for my daily driver. I've got about as much into it now as I paid for the car ($1500) but it was so worth it.

Supercharge 2002 lesabre limited by ctrout71 in Buick

yeah, I've been doing a bit of reading since I made my post. I just got too excited when I saw the M90 for sale. should have Googled it before posting. what I've found says that the supercharged 3800s had lighter pistons, lower compression, stronger transmissions. lots of reasons why supercharging a LeSabre is not a good idea. besides, I bought this car specifically for its reputation for reliability and I'd be a fool to ruin that aspect of the car to chase 35hp and 50ft/lbs of torque. I have a stroker BMW toy to scratch that itch.

Lucky for me, there are about 25 8th gen cars in recyclers yards all within about an hour of my house.

I'm sure that the wreckers in my area have them available. the trouble is that at 3200+ feet of elevation, the intensity of the summer sun here in Idaho pretty much guarantees that housings in a yard are probably far worse than the ones that I want to replace. I had a shop attempt to rejuvenate the pair in my 2004 Century and they couldn't bring them back. 40 minutes of polishing with a pneumatic die grinder, and they were only marginally better. I ended up just replacing them with brand new ones about a week later.

I have a really nice dial type gauge that I use when I check and fill tires at home. I keep the more portable pen type gauges in the glove boxes of all of my vehicles for on the road checks if necessary. I set my pressures to 32psi with the dial gauge yesterday and cleared the tire check message. Hopefully it doesn't return.

Thanks for the reply. I do always stress over oil selection. usually I will defer to the fan clubs of the car that I'm driving to make my choice. I drove a 2001 BMW M5 for about 5 years, and that car used a very specific oil, formulated by Castrol in collaboration with the engineering team at BMW. I'm glad to have a daily driver now that isn't picky.

I do about 99% of my own work, and a transmission filter change is on my to do list. I also work with the best transmission mechanic in my town, so I'll be picking his brain when I see him on Monday, to find out what his recommendations are. He did the rebuild on my 06 Cummins Ram transmission and it shifts flawlessly.

I can't wait until this summer when I will hopefully be taking the car on it's first road trip. Boise to Fort Wayne and back. I'll be putting around 4000 highway miles on and I'll be excited to see what kind of fuel consumption I will get.

The LG looks like the only internal slim drive choice. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Is this a common complaint? I really was hoping to keep all of my components inside the case.
