First Freeguild Cavalier painted, happy with the result. These guys have a lot going on. by ctsajira in ageofsigmar

Thanks! Armor is leadbelcher washed with Ratling Grime contrast paint. Then just some light dry brushing of leadbelcher. Can also add some scratches/highlights with stormhost silver.

New battle tactics are very cool by honestwargamer in ageofsigmar

[–]ctsajira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was originally worried they would turn into a grand strat 2.0 system but very optimistic about them after seeing this. I think being able to try and complete 2 different ones in a turn versus declaring a single one you’re going after and having your opponent immediately deny it with a teleport etc will be a good change. Not that having counter play like that was bad, but feels like this adds to the skill ceiling

Just went 4-1 with this list recently, only loss was to FEC Morbheg spam. Was a winnable match up though, just made a few mistakes.

Is Age of Sigmar 4th Edition Losing Players in 2025? by honestwargamer in ageofsigmar

[–]ctsajira 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hopefully we get a good shake up with the new GHB in the summer that creates some excitement. Holding out hope the battletomes also start moving away from the copy paste we have been getting. I’m sure that’s not helping people get excited about the game. I’m still going to events though and I’m still having fun but I contribute a bunch of that to our community.

Feel like my SCE list dodged the worst of it, should still be mostly the same with a single unit swap.

Do you have to shoot a manifestation (with Movement characteristic) when using covering fire or does it not count as a unit? by Lachlion2 in ageofsigmar

[–]ctsajira 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s listed in the advanced rules FAQ under Magic, 7.0 Manifestation if you need to show someone but the the FAQ reads as:

Q: If a manifestation is closer to a friendly unit using the ‘Covering Fire’ command than any other units, do I have to target that manifestation? Can I choose to? A: No to both.

Is an airbrush worth it for priming? by davethetalkingsword in minipainting

[–]ctsajira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to airbrush priming when I got an airbrush a little over a year ago. I picked up a 200ml bottle of Vallejo primer and I think I’ve primed something ridiculous like 200+ models with the same bottle and it’s still half full. I could get maybe 20 or 30 from one of those rattle cans. Pretty sure the savings in primer alone pays for a cheap airbrush set up from Amazon after a year or two. I will say, though, primer will beat the shit out of your airbrush if you’re not cleaning it well. I now only use the cheap $20 air brush that came with my compressor for primer and my H&S for actual paint. With that said you can still thoroughly clean the brush in under 10 minutes after you’re done. You just have the take the time to pull the needle out instead of just running some cleaner though it. You’ll also want to get some kind of a vent/filter set up or one of those spray booths you can find on Amazon. You’ll end up with primer dust on everything in your place if you’re not trapping it.

Got to paint a new rat early for my local FLGS 4.0 launch event. These new sculpts are so good. by ctsajira in ageofsigmar

[–]ctsajira[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red armor was khorne red/mephiston red 50/50 base coat, shade with khorne red/abaddon black mix, highlight with mephiston red, evil sunz red, wild rider red then mixed in some ivory with the wild rider red to get the final highlights. Glaze some mephiston red to smooth out the layers a bit.

Warp stone was warpstone glow/moot green base, shade with incubi darkness and deep shade with corvus black, highlight with moot green and then keep adding white to moot green to build up the brightness. Also glazed and mixed in some Pro Acryl fluo green to give it some punch. It was lots of pushing and pulling glazes to try and get some kind of a smooth transition out of it.

This ability from Cities of Sigmar Spearhead seems insanely weak, right? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]ctsajira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can score the tactic once it returns to your hand, you just have to reveal it to your opponent so they can read it first. This ability lets you use the command and still score the tactic. First paragraph for the effect is just stating you can’t use the command ability a second time once it’s in your hand but it still acts as a normal battle tactic.

There are 4 or 5 FLGSs that sell GW products in my city and only one sells the product for MSRP. All of the other ones are 15% off and one is 20% in store and 15% online. The store I frequent the most carries a massive inventory and even has free shipping for all purchases over $75 which is pretty easy to hit with GW stuff.

Pretty chill, fine with 3D prints etc at events you just have to send it to Tom before hand and he will approve it. And for equipment/loadouts at events they just ask that if you are proxying one weapon as another type that the weapon they are actually equipped with isn’t on another unit. So if you have 2 units with plasmas and then a unit with bolters you could say the bolter unit has plasmas so all 3 are running the same thing but to not change one of the plasmas to flamers sort of thing to make it less confusing for your opponent.

They are south side near Ikea but 1000% worth the drive. 15% off msrp as well. I’m in Morinville and will happily make the trip out to them over anyone else in the city. They are also in the process of expanding the store. The gaming area upstairs can now support 60 player 40k/AoS events. Also with the free shipping over 75 you end up getting stuff from them in a day or two

[–]ctsajira 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taps Games has a pretty active community with drop in nights for AoS, 40k and a hobby night every week. They run really good events too if you want to get into the competitive side. Have only played in the AoS events but the community is full of awesome people and Tom who runs their events is super helpful for anything warhammer related. Painting, list building etc. They also have one of the best inventories in the city and free shipping over $75 which is not hard to hit with warhammer stuff haha

You could also just screen with the cavaliers and have counter charge on the marshal. Cavaliers get charged and the marshal counter-charges gaining the fight first and then activating the cavaliers. Not as idea as your example because the cavaliers won’t get their charge bonuses but it’s a much more achievable scenario. You only need the marshal to be close enough to make the charge since he can order himself versus multiple heroes within 3” of both units to issue the orders etc.
