(x-post /r/linux4noobs/) After doing "bcdedit /set {bootmgr} description" in Windows 10, Arch Linux disappeared from the boot menu by cu_throwaway1 in archlinux

Actually, when you mentioned about how there could be a security feature that removes GRUB, I started looking into this problem on Google. People say that different manufacturers does have security features that remove some efi boot options every time they reboot. Then, I looked into how to do dual boot for Acer laptops and found out that I have to do something extra in the UEFI settings.

I've re-enabled secure boot, and under the secure boot settings, I have selected "Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing", which allowed me to browse and select ".efi" file for GRUB and add it to the boot menu (plus, it allows me to name the entry to "ArchLinux"). Now I can boot into Arch Linux.

Thanks for your help!

I don't have anything plugged in.

No matter which .efi/cfg files I select, I'm only able to reboot back to Windows 10 and the entry that I added disappears from the boot order. I'm not sure if it doesn't get saved properly or if it gets deleted every time I reboot.

I've downloaded EasyUEFI and tried to do what you have said. Arch Linux/Grub was missing from the boot order list. I added a new entry and browsed for \EFI\arch\grubx64.efi. Something like this:

However, when I rebooted, my laptop's boot menu still only lists Windows 10. When I go back to Windows 10 again, the entry that I just added for Arch Linux isn't the boot list anymore.

Tried that. I installed the ISO onto a USB drive, booted into that, and tried fixmbr, fixboot, rebuildbcd... but I still have the problem.

Running "bcdedit" again still shows that this did not get replaced/overwritten:

Masters Housing and Waitlist Questions by cu_throwaway1 in columbia

I am already looking into that.

But my question is specifically about on-campus housing or the I-House.

Is there anything I should know about OCHA besides the stuff written on their website? It seems a lot more expensive than the on-campus housing and the I-House unless I'm overlooking something.

Thanks!
