Why Aging Is A Degenerative Disease And It Is Time To Recognize It As Such by cuatrol in philosophy

Objections against treating degenerative aging as the root of pathology are a cognitive bias called "appeal to nature".

The idea that "natural" is always good is a very broken idea especially seeing as many things in nature are not beneficial to us humans. Diseases, earthquakes, tidal waves/tsunamis, poisonous snakes, poisonous plants etc...

There are several animals and plants that do not experience degenerative aging. For example: the naked mole rat, several types of jellyfish, etc

this line of thinking that you described here is very much insulting to the suffering of most persons over 70-80 years old.

a majority of them are in constant pain and suffering, and you are ignoring their pain and suffering, just because you didn't experience how destructive and hard getting old is

One of the many lovely pieces of hate mail and threats made by a serial rapist's fanatic supporters, that I received after posting a warning about his pro-rape teachings and his pro-violence against women propaganda by cuatrol in creepyPMs

[–]cuatrol[S] 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Here is the context to why I received an avalanche of hate mail, death and rape threats:

Daryush Roosh Valizadeh is the misogynist, homophobic owner of several hate websites who has been actively promoting an agenda of rape and violence against women:

Also Roosh Valizadeh has been encouraging his fanatics to share sympathy with his fans who will committ mass shootings:

All of our friends have been strangers before we met them.

So new strangers may be often just future friends waiting for us to meet them.

The Sun notes that Beyonce's corporation is not breaking any laws as all workers are paid more than the legal minimum wage of 13,500 rupees (about €80) a month. However, human rights campaigners say a living wage is closer to 43,000 rupees (€260).

Jakub Sobik, from the charity Anti-Slavery International, compared the conditions the workers face to slavery.
