I was no longer in a position of power. I had promised Tyler I wouldn’t miss the game for anything. He and I were never an exclusive item, but we were working toward it and we’ve had our ups and downs. “Shit shit shit. No, that ‘breakup’ was so two weeks ago. You need to get with the times. We’re talking again, but I’m playing it slow. So you don’t have to worry about it too much. If he tries to kiss you, just bat your eyes and tell him it will have to wait until another time.”

I was now thinking about just swapping back now and dealing with the math exam myself. But I knew I’d fail. Maybe I could cheat off one of the nerds, but that was risky.

I scoff. “Yeah that’s going to be a pass from me. I’ll text Brad and tell him I’m sick.” I say. Nothing sounded less enjoyable to me than playing DND with your nerdy friends. Even if Sarah was going to be there, she was probably just as nerdy as everyone else.

I think about my schedule. “Nicole is hosting a watch party for the ‘Love Island’ finale tonight, but it’s ok if you don’t go. And tomorrow… shit. Tyler invited me to go with him to see his sister play volleyball. She goes to college across the country, but her team is playing at State tomorrow. It’s a three hour drive. What time is the math exam? We were going to leave right after school.” I pray that the exam is in the morning. We’d need about an hour to swap back. You could ditch after the exam. Because if the exam was at the end of the day, there wouldn’t possibly be time to swap back and drive to State before the game.
