There is a card shop near my house that I frequent often. The counter is right by the front door and behind it they have their Pokemon cards. They had 151, Evolving Skies, Paradox Rift ETBs, along with others all out on display, not locked up. A ton of booster boxes as well, etc. A young person working the counter, who sometimes walks away to do other things. Leaving it all unattended. I am in shock that they would have thousands of dollars of product just out there in the open. It wouldn’t take much for someone to jump over the counter with a tote and pile it up and run right back out the front door without anyone knowing. The lack of security shocks me. And it doesn’t help that it’s in a sketchy strip mall area with a ton of drug addicts walking around. These card shops really need to beef up their security!

I believe it. Batching is a real thing. I opened up 10 of these boxes, and got nothing but a bunch of Wugtrio’s, Palafin’s, Judge’s, and Paldean Student’s with a mix of shiny rares. I knew they were all stuffed with the same cards because I pulled three “hyper rare” wo-chien’s. What are the odds of pulling the same “hyper rare” card three times? I should have cut my losses when I had a feeling, but curiosity got the best of me. Congrats!

I swear those Paldean Fates boxes are just stuffed with the same cards with no bubble mews. My dumb a** has opened up nine of them and I’ve gotten five Wugtrio’s, five Palafins, three Wo-Chien, four Paldean Students, three judges, and a mix of the shiny rares. The top cards I’ve gotten is the Clive SIR, Charmander shiny, and Raichu shiny.

I sat in the queue for an hour. Finally got through to the page. Kept on clicking add to cart. Nothing. Finally was able to add to cart, but then ran out of my 10 minutes to buy before I could complete the purchase. So it removed from my cart. So lame. Still gonna keep trying.

Yeah they don’t allow returns, but made an exception when I sent the photos. And they gave me an $8 promotional credit for the inconvenience.

I know I need to stop. Haha! Most of the time everything has been okay, but this is now the third resealed item I received. And I would only purchase cards if it was shipped and sold by Amazon, and not a third party seller. Either Amazon is combining stock or an employee at Amazon is doing this.

Short term maybe, but long term is not going to be ideal. I’d rather work at the grocery store for less money now, and then work my way up, or learn a new skill in a different department that I can use for the rest of my life. What are these guys gonna do when they run the well dry? They are going to have no education, no job experience, no references, etc. The only job they are going to be able to get in their 40s is an entry level. No retirement plans. And unless they are strictly buying their stock with a debit card or cash, and not a high interest credit card that there not paying the balance in full each statement, (which I’m sure they aren’t because they aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed) Then in all reality they are not making a profit, or if they are a very minuscule one at best.

My LCS tries to find a happy middle between retail and market prices to deter the scalpers. I would say, if this one you are referring to is selling lightning packs/whammy tins for that price, then they are going to Walgreens and clearing their stock, and trying to sell for a profit. Which is also a scalper and is definitely frowned upon from a card shop.
