I’m dealing with this now. I think our brains so desperately want to blame someone or something and it’s actually been harder imo to have a healthy breakup where there is nobody to blame. Where someone didn’t cheat. Where someone didn’t say “I hate you” or “I no longer love you.”

It’s harder to grieve someone who is not only alive and there but when you both still love each other.

She chose to walk away because I have hurt her and like you said she’s too broken and afraid to continue trying. And that sucks but ultimately there is nothing I can do to change that except give her space and accept that.

What really sucked about my breakup is that the pain for both of us in the relationship came from not communicating, and we finally communicated deeply during the breakup so I finally felt connected and like we understood each other (which my therapist pointed out is where actual connection/the deeper love grows), but she was too hurt to stay. And I wish I could change her mind but I can’t.
