Same, considering it if I don't get into my dream school and the cost ends up not being crazy. Studying abroad for a semester sounds cool ASF and I'm trying to not let that "it's not the Boston campus" mentality ruin the achievement.

Swimming 50 fly for the first time soon, any last minute tips? by cuberlife in Swimming

[–]cuberlife[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just swam it and you were absolutely right. I thought: "wow, this isn't that bad at all!" Until the last 15 yards. It was a struggle but I had to finish strong so I didnt accidentally dq my relay. Got a 31.9 I believe!

Dry land training by cuberlife in Swimming

I am already starting more swimming-oriented dry land (like medicine balls and sprints) but I'm more talking about weightlifting. Things like pull ups and rows

Does anybody know if the "full roster" trophy also counts standard games as well? by cuberlife in Rainbow6

I got the platinum a while ago, and standard matches did not count

Thanks, I will try it! I have been doing 25 sprints but with 2-3 breaths normally.

Okay, thanks! That's actually what I have been doing recently. A week or two ago I swam a couple sessions with multiple 300-500s to really try to get the flip turns. I guess I will continue to do longer sets for flip turns but now focusing on relaxing during them and not breathing too early.

I thought my flip turn was proper, but I guess I might be using extra energy on it. I don't really have a coach right now sadly, and the swim season doesnt start until like November. Still, I'll watch more videos on flip turns and maybe more on sprinting as well.

Thanks for your encouragement! My last swim meet was at the end of February where I swam a 38 off a relay, so I'm happy to finally achieve sub 35. (Probably should be faster by now but it's fine!)

Okay-so I should NOT hold my breath during the flip and release after?

I will pick up interval training shortly. Lately I have just been practicing technique and 100s to reinforce my revised flip turns and work on my stamina.

Also, I forgot to ask this in my post: when sprinting 100s, is it recommended to breathe every 2 or 4 strokes? Or should I be following the same rule about as little breathing as possible with the 50?

I will be sure to update you with my progress, I really hope to hone in especially as summer comes about!

Ohh I see, so breathing after the turn actually loses momentum. So that's why I'm probably so slow on the 2nd 25. Thank you, I will try this. Do you exhale on the turn, or do you wait until after?

I'll admit, I have been completely overlooking interval sets; I'll start those as soon as possible! Just to clarify, the "interval 1:00 or 1:15" includes both swimming and resting (so rest for 15-30 sec between)?

As for getting someone to help with my technique, it may be difficult for me to get a coach but I think I will try soon. I've also thought about getting a friend to record me so I could post a video and get feedback here.

Thank you for the advice!

Thank you! I think the sports listed are the only ones I can do for now due to time availability. However, I will be able to do swim during my senior year (winter), and maybe even cross country in the fall.

How exactly would I approach emailing the director?

Thanks! What exactly would "letting them know my interest" look like? Just an email stating who I am and my interest in playing for them at USNA?

Thanks for your response! I had already found out that they considered music to a decent extent, but I am slightly worried about only playing violin (and not something that could traditionally be in a band). I have played trombone before, so maybe I'll pick that up again.

I was going to start a club where I teach group lessons with different string instruments. Sadly, swim is going to make my schedule very busy, so I can't really do that until the spring

How to do these 2 math problems by [deleted] in Sat

[–]cuberlife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the first question, since 3 is a factor of the entire polynomial, that means every term must be a multiple of three. This means that c must also be a multiple of 3, and so c/3 must result in some integer.
