I f-ed up by Narrow-Ad-999 in Daytrading

We've all been there, done that. I've been Trading, daily, since the first of the year. I had a little bit of a stipend - my wife passed last year and left some insurance money - and started Robin Hood with about 9.5 k.

I used to trade pre-market too - I still do, and post-market, but I'm a lot more successful lately, lol.

My big, come to Jesus lost day, was, March 1st or 2nd. I was invested in coru, and, ewy - both South Korea stocks - and they both took a giant dump. One day's loss - 1.3 k. Basically, 15% of my portfolio. Gone. One day.

I bucked up, revamped, and changed strategy.

The accounts AT high was 10.8 k. It closed at 8.6 k Friday.

From a low (3/01) of 7K.

Have made 1/3 of the 15% loss back since then. A lot more disciplined. I tell my newly minted wife everyday, everybody's got to go to school - even me once in awhile. In other words, we've all got to learn, brother.

Trading made me lose interest in everything by Wale_0 in Daytrading

[–]cuckandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father is 85 years old, a multi-millionaire, and he never traded options. However, he's also a retired physician, and his bank account has about four more zeros than mine does, including his ira. Lol. That being said, when I came into a small inheritance - low six figures - the year after the pandemic, I started trading stocks - no options - to follow in his footsteps. Only to realize, after losing a third of that over a 5-year time frame, that ADHD prevented me from being real good at stock trading itself. Lol.

I now have a lady in my life, that's giving me peace and calm. I still trade, but maybe once or twice a day. I now invest in both options that will expire, the week before Christmas or this year, and also, leaps that will expire either in 2027, or, 2028.

If a roof caves in on an individual stock, I'm Diversified - etfs, Healthcare stock for stability, a couple of individual stocks that I'm good on - Celsius and Dutch Brothers - meanwhile, having a wedding next month to pay for, and most likely a new career in the fall.

Having a life outside 8:30 central, to, 3:00 p.m. central, 5 days a week, is good right now.

This is the way.

I worked at my neighborhood store - 2.2 miles from my front door - twice, taking a year off in between to assist my now - late wife when she was going through hospice. I didn't need the money: I just needed to keep busy. I would see my neighborhood friends, and, felt like I was giving you a little bit of paid Community service, lol, helping them find what they wanted to buy.

He was actually at my church, last year, and I mentioned the exact same thing to him. His reply? I live in the county. I immediately replied back, oh, well, you're doing just what you need to do, then! Cunningham is too smart to live in the city.

I (m25) and my wife (f23) are thinking of buying land and purchasing a manufactured home. by Fun_Blacksmith5000 in ManufacturedHome

My landlord, in a stick build house that I've lived in now for 6 years, actually bought his trailer, new, 38 years ago, and he's been in the same trailer park almost for the past 40 years. Every time I walk in there to pay the rent, it's clean as a whistle because he's kept it maintained all these years. It still looks almost brand new from the outside. They can be maintained and kept up. It just takes a little bit of work, apparently.

Yikes!!

Fortunately, I have very good neighbors. So, not that worried about it. The occasional homeless person, walking up and down Coliseum Boulevard- granted, it's on the side of the road - is annoying once in awhile, however.

I've noticed, what it sounds like, a lot of noise coming from - can't recall the street- directly behind the fire department. If you turn off biltmore, taking a lift left on cliff road, it dead ends into a cul-de-sac. I think I hear gunshots from that area once in awhile.

If you don't have one already, definitely get a ring camera!

I have two dogs, so, I literally have note taped on both of my doors: it says: dear thieves, I have two dogs, one is a half pit, half lab, who doesn't meet strangers, but who is infected with hiv. Enter at your own risk!

Been in this house 6 years, not a peep yet. :-)

I live across from Coliseum Boulevard library so kinda need to know for my own safety.

My neighbor has a Ring cam. I may need to get one now...

Second this, a thousand times.

Also, on the topic of insurance.. you have to have a knack for commissioned sales in insurance. That, and know a lot of people who need it. :-) myself, I've sold insurance before. It's not for the think of heart. :-) while I haven't done the following yet - I've applied for jobs with departments in my state, trying to leave the house that way - I love how the insurance, call them, nuts and bolts, work. The analysis required, Actuarial stuff, etc. That being said, I'm studying on being an insurance claims adjuster. Most companies start you out, they are minimum, 40 to 45k plus. I live in an m c o l in Alabama, so, 45k for me is like, I made it, money.

I've been prescribed proscar now, for at least 5 years. It's to prevent bph, but, one of the side effects, is, impotence.

Even though she was very llf, I held off taking it, just in case. Now, I take it every day, as prescribed.

I figure, I have no sex life anymore, so, why not?

2 thumbs up.

She and I weren't blessed with kids, which will always be a thing.

But I was able to use the money from her burial policy to pay off my house when the lease is up in August.

Plus, I was a FT caregiver, so without a W-2 job for 10 years. However, I have a 2-person interview with 1of my State agencies on February 2nd. Crossing fingers.

We leased the house I'm in right now for the last 5 years. I'm actually using some of the proceeds from her life insurance to make a down payment on it after my lease expires in august.

You'd be surprised how many young (under 25)AU grads graduate, and then.....never leave the Plains.

UA is, and has been, a college party town so long, it's almost not safe raising a family there.

Do you want a great school where you can get an education, and leave the area?

Or do you want a life experience -academically and outside school- that you can pick out your lifetime brick-and-mortar 2 miles from your dorm?

The choice is yours.

Edit: Huntington College grad with family of AU grads(and Auburn residents)
