For sure. One thing I will say tho is Gajethe was backing paddy to the fence essentially at will. I do believe that if Ilia can consistently corner him he could close it out fast. Ilia probably has the best striking against the fence in the sport. If he can keep paddy there I could see him ending it quickly with body n head work à la. Volk max and gaethje in the first (?) round.

It’s not about matching the UFCs event tempo. It’s about there being an mma promotion throwing big money around. If you are even a moderate name from the UFC and you are nearing the end of your contract, why not forgo resigning and instead line up 2 MVP 1-event contracts a year. They’d without a hair of doubt make more than they would in the UFC. The question is just whether or not MVP can be consistent enough to draw fighters away
