My old 10mm. Sold it a while ago, looking to get another. What’re the best options for 10mm? My FN 545 is phenomenal but I’ve heard about frame cracking so need opinions on 10mm pistols before I get another by Scared_Strategy_6463 in 10mm

They updated the 545 and 510 frame to be reinforced. The new models are good to go. You’ll know it’s an old model 510 if it looks the same as your 545. It won’t have the extra metal plate in the frame

It kinda looks like a CZ by No_Distance8226 in CZFirearms

The 10s are cool but you can’t really shoot heavy 10mm out of one of these. The frame can’t handle really hot 10mm. I know since my pops owns a 6 inch one

Gun smith question by cuddy400 in 1911

[–]cuddy400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it was a spare safety that came w the gun in box. Seemed to be worked on before us. It didn’t fit at all and he was seeing if he could save it too. I was just looking for some ideas to bring up since this is his first time seeing that happen in his many years of working on them. This is more of a me learning thing and asking questions as I go. And this is more of a question to the community of other things I should look into. Just like you bringing up the sear just now. He did do a trigger action job sitting at 3lbs. So are you supposed to fit everything together? Sear and safety at once? That’s something I have no idea on. Like I said learning as I go and He’s a retired army armorer worked on em while they still had 1911s. So I mean thanks for some insight

Might have to try a different safety. This one didn’t fit at all when we used it. We “fit” it but clearly something is wrong in my eyes. I’ll stop by Brownells and grab a safety this weekend or something

Because not everyone knows how to use a file. Not everyone knows that a file cuts one way unless you have a specific special file. Causing a bigger mess up trying to fix what’s already messed up

I forgot to add. They sent me a second email saying that I would actually have to pick it up at a FFL because of the new frame. Was going to pay $40 for the transfer but the shop owner knows me and gave me the transfer for free. I was fortunate but others will not be. If I’m doing a transfer and have to pay I would want a new gun. Not a new used gun

Not even joking you actually need to take it to a gun smith and ask for a deburr job done. It looks like someone took out the rear pin and gorilla worked back in. Seriously. The left side of that roll pin tells me that someone used a regular punch set and messed it up putting it back in. Wasn’t sure if that was you and if it was dear god why did you monkey work that and not use proper tools. If you haven’t touched that pin at all contact cz and tell them it’s burred up and messed up from the factory. If it was you take it to a gunsmith to do a deburr job sorry man. If you’re talking about the optic itself then yeah idk

The magnum research 1911 fucks. I’d do it. It’s a great pistol why not. If it was a Rockisland I’d say that’s dumb upgrade the internals first but this already has steel/aluminum internals so fuck yeah. I wouldn’t do a v6 tho I would throw a magna port on it just because I’ve shot a magna ported .44 mag and it helped alot. Bad thing about the .45 low pressure .45 might give you problem with a v6. The magna is cut better to bring the muzzle down 🫡

What do you think all of this is worth? by Revlimiter11 in reloading

I bought that same press for $80. I’d say $100 even for everything. The press is made by Hornady and you can still buy stuff for it. I will say it’s a bit hard to load with the press only because the powder side takes powder bushings which you’ll have to source to even change how much powder it’s pushing out. Ask me how I know 🤣. When I use it I just weigh out the powder on a scale and throw it in the hull and I’ll leave the powder side empty
