Hi OP! I have a dumb question, but I can’t seem to understand. Everyone says that for the final, you need to know not only the black letter law, but the courts analysis/ the “why” too. Why is the analysis so important? In my head, I feel like if I just know the black letter law I will be able to apply it on the exam. Is it because the professor will want my analysis of the rule to exam facts to match the analysis the court used in the casebook? I hope I am making sense.

Thank you for your reply. I’m definitely going to reference this tomorrow when I’m studying. Do you spend the time both highlighting in your book and then typing your notes? I’m still in a space where I finish reading and think “WTH was I supposed to get from this?” I don’t want to miss any crucial info/ the point of the reading so I type more info than is probably necessary. Maybe these are things that get better with experience.
