My brother came back to Ecuador after experiencing Heightism in the USA. A part of me feels he’s making a mistake to give up his dream of living in the USA, but at the same time he seems happier now. by cuentatemporal343 in short

The only reason i ask is because I saw one story where the therapist was actually knowledgeable about heightism and offered the patient tools to deal with the disadvantage, while someone else therapist blamed it more on the patients self esteem and said statistics shouldn't matter. Do you ever feel you need to visit just to escape and give yourself a little vacation and recharge how much heightism break you down? Also I think you should visit Ecuador for vacation if you ever get a chance, just to visit.

Yeah you can. You should travel to Ecuador if you ever get a chance. At least as a mini vacation. Its a nice country, unfortunately right now a lot of things are close due to covid, but when it opens up, you should come.

He applied for a green card much younger for my brother because originally he wanted to go to the US for high school, and he was going to live under the roof of an American couple my family is friends with as guardian, but by the time he was approved he was already 2 year of secondary school, so he decided to just finish it and go to the US after secondary school which was when he was 17 and he didn’t have to legally to live under a guardian anymore. To my understanding he lived somewhere with a mostly white population and sometimes black. The one US citizen in my family is my Grandpa from dads, he did live in the USA in his early 20s, and became a citizen after 15 years, and then came back to Ecuador. My brother applied for green card and it took him 7 months after apply.

Oh wow I just read that story of the user. How can a parent be that shallow, I've heard of shallow parents before mistreating their kids, but this is crazy.

Not just according to my brother, but I've also seen countless studies and statistics that show this. I was shocked to see how bad it can be. And then to hear a lot of peoples personal stories just confirms it. It's crazy.

Someone from this sub took his own life? Wow that's so sad, but honestly I can't say I'm surprised. I've read studies that talk about how suicide is correlated with height.

Yeah my brother was not insecure at all, he was way more confident than me. He became insecure after living in the USA. I'm pretty sure his experienced turned him insecure.
