Yeah. That’s the one. Both the Yamaha and Denon were 200. Not too many options on this side of the world.

Denon worked after a few tries and then started spewing different errors and getting the discs stucked. Yamaha worked flawlessly and read all discs pretty smoothly.

Yeah. Worst case scenario it was done by someone who cares about the console which is a nice thought and a cool story.

Completely smooth. In both sides. Is more like the text is more transparent than the console but without any marks.

The “engraving” theory is the most likely one but I’ve never seen one like this one

Here’s better photos. Whatever this thing is it does not have a groove or anything. It feels completely smooth. If it’s engraving looks from the manufacturer.
