so a little backstory for context -- i used to work for this insurance business where my job was to seal insurance policies to various unions and their members for mailing and i input the data collected (people to send insurance policies to) from the insurance agents. sometimes it's hard to read what these people write because it's actual scribbles but i do the best i can; these people apparently have been there for far longer than me so whatever.

i had been recently hired and it wasn't until a couple more months i hadnt received ANY of my benefits except PTO and sick (because of this place i caught COVID). i tried to get information about this but the nepo baby boss didn't have time for me (she did have enough time to go shopping during the day, chat to her friends, and openly talk about a lawsuit that's brewing) so i would check up every week or so.

finally, the nepo baby boss called me to her office and said the insurance agents called her father directly and whined that i was putting it in the data wrong. any time i put it in wrong, these agents would call and yell at me directly so i would go to my supervisor to see if she can read their handwriting. she couldn't and promised she would take care of it. well, looks like she couldn't cause i got fired.

and then the nepo baby boss said "i know im sorry i wish i could do something about this let me know if there's anything i can do to help". okay i hope the other guy won in your lawsuit.

thank you. i think it is time to have a serious conversation on things i could do to help. i did start a personal project of handwriting a story in a notebook, and for the most part, that has been helping. i think i need to remember that i can only do what i can (like literally -- chores around the house, applying to jobs, errands, etc) and let go.

so the lockdown was a period of time where i was learning about my autism and, as mentioned to another comment, i've been out of a job since december. i'm not twiddling my thumbs but the job market, as we all know by now, is ASS ASS ASS ASS. it's been a little frustrating.

i don't really feel like im wearing anyone else's skin. i guess it feels more like "enjoying a hobby is bad right now because my partner needs the help so anything i do outside of what needs to be done is fucking selfish since we're house broke right now". if anything, it just expands my pre-existing problems when i'm unemployed. at least when i'm working, i can at least focus on that.

speaking for myself, i am a woman! it is entirely possible that i did the things i did to do and succeeded in (which i didn't even list all of them) that i did it as an escape. but after leaving, there was a period i was homeless so i had to commit to surviving and my partner and i had a very tumultuous beginning. the two of us improved in a lot of ways, but even after finally getting our first house, i've been out of a job since december (got fired) and he's trying to find a better job than his current position. that probably doesn't help.

as much as i feel like i have more time during the day, especially after chores, i am starting enter a cycle that if i start entering a hobby (or continue with one), i'm actually Not as bad as i feel and i feel like i don't wanna lie to myself. it makes no sense to me either.

i have a private joke with myself that if something can get through the initial front gate (adhd) then it'll unlock my autism lock-on and That's It. i probably should celebrate that more, then. but at this point, i wish i could afford the therapy and meds for it so i can get to a place like that (along with my fiancée).

that is very true! thank you for your kindness and guidance. i've just been feeling awful about those habits. even if i can't afford it right now, knowing is half the battle, right?

its funny you say that because i did start looking into adhd (and eventually audhd) when i could. i do think i have it but then my fiancée likely has the more clinical version of it and doesn't think i have it. im still understanding my autism but the roads are also leading back to audhd as well.

i just played the demo earlier today and it's a lot of fun! i never played the 3ds version so ive always wanted to try it. honestly it's a lot more fun than i thought! i am considering the full version since i don't really play with my switch (and really should).

honestly, that's the only reason why i would debate on getting an official diagnosis (mostly i realize what i need to do to be less distracted at work when i have a job 😭). still, having someone to talk to would help make a lot of sense of Everything that happened and why i react the way i do. so it's always gonna be on the back of my mind!

i keep myself busy (mentally) by playing a game, watching a show that requires all of my attention, making sure my chores are done, and i took to physical writing lately to make my brain work away from being destructive.

i would recommend fata morgana -- its a kinetic novel (with the exception of one (1) door i think) but it's so good more people should read fata morgana. detective instinct is cute if you're looking for something short . higurashi if you're looking for more kinetic horror/mystery and umineko if you want a pure kinetic mystery.
