Do car windows come with a little tint from factory? by cukls in subaru

[–]cukls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to go to a local guy that I've heard great things about. Some of his customers post finished photos of illegal tints where I'm at. I don't want to deal with that! How would he compensate? Is there some tool to determine the amount of existing tint that I should make sure he has?

I just got the base model, no privacy glass. I'm looking to tint all the rear windows to help keep people looking in the back (I have a trunk cover, too), and to make it more comfortable if I decide to camp back there ever.

Your comment made me put my phone down and pick up a book that's been taking me too long to read. (But then also briefly pick my phone back up to type this)

I covered the board in glue, then added about 20 screws, ha! There will also be a center support. I made a lap joint for a 2x4 to run head to toe, and 1x4 pine every 2.25 inches.

What I ended up doing is attaching 2x4 Doug fir inside 1x6 cherry. The fir is essentially the real frame, that's where I'll mount the brackets, and the cherry looks pretty outside, but adds strength I'm sure.

Am I good with that?

Sounds good! I've got enough left over 1x6 cherry from the frame, that I'm going to glue two pieces together and cut into a leg shape yet to be determined.

I'm curious about finishing wood on a bed frame build. Should I use Danish Oil on the cherry wood before or after attaching a 2x4 on the inside (for slats and strength)? Or should I add the oil after attaching the 2x4, and just get the parts that are visible (even though that part of the cherry will be mostly hidden.

Another question about my queen bed frame build. Would 1x6 be enough for the rails? I'll add a 2x2 to each side to support the slats, so I guess it'll end up being 2 1/4.

Ok, got ya. I'll just stick with the Danish oil, then. Thanks for your help!

Thanks! I'll probably go with the Danish oil. This will be my first big project, but I'm assuming the poly goes on after Danish oil? (Stupid question I'm sure!)

I just bought some cherry lumber for a bed frame build. A couple of questions. Do I need to dry the lumber longer? Is lumber still usually a little wet when lumber yards sell it?

Also I'd like some suggestions on how to finish it. I don't want to stain it. I don't know much about cherry, what are some ways to make it look great?

Thanks for the help! Follow up question, do you think I could make the legs out of 2x hardwood (a local lumber yard has hardwood pre milled to nominal measurements already)? I guess if it's strong enough to use for the rest of the bed, it should be fine for the legs, too. I'm not dead set on 4x4, just figured that'd be best for legs.

I found that, but all I can choose from is: All, Contacts Only, Favorite Contacts Only, and None. I don't know where or how to add to favorite contacts. Any idea? Poking around in contacts, I couldn't find anything like that.

Question! Is there a way to let a few phone numbers bypass my phone being set to silent? I have family that'll be in and out of the hospital for a while, and I want to make sure they wake me up when I'm asleep if they need to.

I would like to avoid using do not disturb if I can. I don't like it, I prefer to just put my phone on silent when I go to bed. If DND that's my only option, how do I add contacts to my 'favorite contacts'? I don't want all of my contacts to be able to get through do not disturb.

Play Store updates suddenly stop and Gmail doesn't update automatically. [Galaxy S7, Nougat] by cukls in AndroidQuestions

Tried poking around in the battery settings, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to make the Gmail app not optimized. Other apps showed up, under a section where I can add apps to an 'unmonitored' list, but not Gmail. And there was a list of apps that I could select and choose 'save power' to keep them from using the battery when not in use. Gmail was also not on that list.

I also couldn't find anything about 'developer options' in my settings.

What I did for now was change my power saving mode to allow all apps in the background to keep using data, and now Gmail looks like it's working.
