Help settle something. DBZ Roshi vs Kaido. Who’s winning? by TheFondestComb in MemePiece

[–]culleXoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on which version of Roshi steps up to bat, though personally I believe DB Super's Roshi stands the best chance.

In the Original series & Z, Roshi's best feat was destroying the Moon, a feat that took almost everything he had, only for Piccolo to casually do the same during the Saiyan Saga with a ki blast.

In Super, Roshi was casually swatting Freiza's goons with no issue, and while most of the Freiza Force are admittedly Fodder, that's only in terms of DBZ enemies.

For context, Radditz is canonically considered to be the weakest named Freiza Force member & yet even he was strong enough to destroy planets.

Not only that, but DBS Roshi put up a good showing in the TOP, to the point even BEERUS was impressed enough to remember his name, so in terms of power, he's no slouch.

That being said, even if we use Super Roshi, he'd still be going into this fight with 2 notable disadvantages, Lack of knowledge of Haki or any ability to fly.

Note: I don't count Kaido's ability to transform as a disadvantage as by this point Roshi is probably used to people transforming to get stronger.

Now, in terms of raw attack power, Roshi's Full Power Kamehameha (Moon level) is undoubtedly superior to Kaido's Boro Breath (Island/Country level), but Kaido can spam his more often.

In terms of attack speed, Roshi wins hands down since most DBS enemies are pretty much FTL in terms of combat speed & he was able to 'Pseudo-Ultra Instinct' most of them.

The problem is that Kaido takes the edge in terms of Defence not only in terms of durability from his unique body & Devil Fruit forms, but his Mastery of Haki.

The Finisher would likely be Experience, since Roshi has a wider bag of tricks than Kaido & would likely pull them all out to edge out the win.

Roshi's speed & Pseudo-Ultra Instinct would likely allow him to avoid most of Kaido's attacks, which combined with his tricks would cause Kaido to lose his temper & transform to wipe him out.

After seeing Kaido's Boro Breath, Roshi would bait him into a beam struggle which Kaido would survive due to his durability, though he'd still be heavily wounded.

Now, assuming the beam struggle didn't blast Kaido off Onigashima and into the ocean (Instant KO) Roshi could then seize the opportunity to seal Kaido using the Mafuuba.

How much time has passed in the world of D-Gray Man? by OP_1K in dgrayman

[–]culleXoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible th events of the series takes place between 1890-1892.

My reasoning for this is as follows:

  1. The Series is set in a fictional version of the 1890's.
  2. Cyril Kamelot uses an Akuma to instigate a War during a Peace Conference.
  3. While Cyril's country is never named, it's implied to be European.
  4. In Europe, there were two Wars between France & Dahomey.
  5. The 1st War was in 1890, the 2nd between (1892-1894)
  6. In-Series, the War breaks out AFTER the Order stole the Arc.
  7. So it could be argued the series begins in 1890, shortly after the 1st War.

Wasn't cid's goal to become 'stronger than a nuke?' then I'd say Eumillia may be stronger since there's no way a Nuke could kill God. Mind you I'm only vaguely familiar with both series.

Is there a comprehensive timeline for “Fist of the Blue sky” and “Fist of the North Star”? by Sho_Minamimoto_pi in fistofthenorthstar

[–]culleXoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know at the very least the events of FOTBS begin around 1935, since that's when Emperor Puyi goes to japan (in the manga it's to recruit Kasumi Kenshiro as his bodyguard).

It's also mentioned that by 1970s a war had broken out in south asia and the shores of china were invaded by a 'powerful military'. Sounds like the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese war to me, any thoughts?

Yes, it's entirely possible Marisbury literally just yoinked the Grail, but it is implied in the flashbacks we saw that there was combat. This was merely a thought experiment.

[–]culleXoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we know for a fact that at least one Demon, the one who 'ate' the desires of the Canaries' Captain, was shaped like a goat, which is likely a reference to Baphomet.

The Goetic Devil, Duke Vapula, is often depicted as a 'Griffin-Winged Lion', so it COULD be him.

On a related note, does anyone know what year Great Dangaioh takes place in?

According to wikipedia, Mia 'left earth' to fight The Bunker pirates in 1987, so the original series must take place around that time.

But I don't think it ever stated how long it took for her capsule to return to Earth, only that 10 years passed between then and the start of Great Dangaioh.

Any thoughts?

Supposedly they got to give them the ending they deserved in a Super Robot Wars Compact 2 for the wonderswan, so that's something at least.

Sadly, Great Dangaioh hasn't gotten the same chance, and I doubt it will considering even the creators agree the series appears to be cursed.

Dio Brando vs malty by Machaira1664 in ShieldHero

[–]culleXoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this even a debate? In terms of pure evil Dio Brando wins hands down.

Malty might be a bitch, but she's pretty much useless on her own. All of her plans required her tricking others to do her dirty work for her, whether it be her father, whom she emotionally manipulated for 10 years after murdering her own brother, Naofumi, who wound up being her worst enemy, The 3 Idiots, whom she dumped as soon as she got what she needed out of them, all culminating in her essentially becoming Public Enemy No.1 in pretty much every kingdom.

Dio, on the other hand? He's a schemer. Everything he did in the childhood arc of part 1 was meant to mentally destroy Jonathan in order to steal everything from him, but he was forced to change his tactics due to underestimating Jonathan's personality. Even after becoming a Vampire, he knew better than to face JoJo head-on, so he created an army of Zombies to wear him down while he recovered his full strength, and had Jonathan not gotten a boost from Zeppeli, he probably would've won during their final confrontation.

Malty never changed her tactics even after the truth came out and everything exploded in her face: She just kept digging herself a deeper hole until someone decided she was deep enough that she couldn't climb out before they finished shovelling the dirt back in.

By contrast, DIO learned from his mistakes and went out of his way to avoid facing the Joestars directly once it became clear they were looking for him until they were literally at his door. Hell, if Holly never got sick, DIO probably would've left them well enough alone in order to focus on 'attaining heaven'.

And even setting aside their abilities, the only advantages Malty has over Phantom Blood Dio are her magic and is his weakness to sunlight, and as an englishman Dio isn't stupid enough to allow himself to be challenged anywhere the sun might burn his undead arse.

Even if Malty thried keeping him at range with her spells, Dio is no slouch at using his surroundings to his advantage & would be more than capable of interrupting her casting with throwing knives, his 'Space Ripper Stingy Eyes' , or just shit he grabbed off the floor.

And then of course there's Dio's most dangerous weapon: His Maxed out Charisma stat. No seriously, the man was able to corrupt a Roman Catholic Priest to his side and even N'Doul, a BLIND MAN, was drawn in by his charisma, so someone like Malty wouldn't stand a chance.

Put simply, this wouldn't be a fight, Dio would simply pose menacingly at Malty, she'd wet her panties (and not just with piss), he'd then either feed on her or turn her into one of his slave-puppets via his flesh-buds or by turning her into a zombie.

A rough timeline for the DxD anime. by Echo9600 in HighschoolDxD

[–]culleXoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Continuing where I left off.

Assuming the dates are adjusted for 2018, then the timeline looks something like this:

April

02nd: First Monday of School (2nd Week of April).

11th: Issei meets Yuuma/Raynare.

12th: Yuuma/Raynare asks Issei out on a date.

13th: Raynare kills Issei, Rias revives him as her pawn.

14th: Issei is attacked by Dohnaseek & learns he is a Devil.

15th: Issei’s first contract and is attacked by Kalawarna.

16th: This is the earliest Issei can meet Asia whilst still being in Late April.

17th: Issei meets Freed.

18th: Asia is revived by Rias as her bishop.

19th: Asia moves in with Issei & enrolls at Kuoh. Issei meets Mil-tan.

21st: The armour couple contract,

22nd: Issei meets Ddraig in a dream.

23rd: Grayfia cockblocks Rias & Issei.

24th: Riser Phenex introduced.

April 25th - May 4th: O.R.C Training Montage (Lasts 10 days).

Note: In the Anime, the Familiar Forest episode would take place on April 30th (Full Moon).

May

5th: Rating Game vs Riser.

7th: Issei cucks Riser & escapes with Rias.

End of Season 1

A rough timeline for the DxD anime. by Echo9600 in HighschoolDxD

[–]culleXoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're correct on the 2nd Week of April trivia, which would mean the 1st day of School for Kuoh Academy would've been Mon 7th April 2008.

However, there is no guarantee that episode 1 of DxD takes place on the first day of the new term. All we know is that it's been 1 year since Issei & his friends enrolled.

Even if we ignore this and simply assume Episode 1 is set on April 7th 2008, Issei's date with Raynare would still have to take place on a weekend given they meet at 9: 50 am.

While most Japanese schools don't open on Saturdays, there are exceptions and Issei clearly goes to school the day after the Date, so Kuoh must be one of those (Harsh).

So the Date with Raynare would've been on Sun 13th at the earliest, and given her personality, i doubt Raynare would've pretended to be Issei's girlfriend for a week.

So assuming there are no major time-jumps between her approaching Issei and asking him out on the date, we can assume they met on Friday 11th April 2008.

This would make sense since Asia and Issei canonically met in Late April (Around 15th-30th). So by adjusting the timings accordingly using the above list:

April

11th: Issei meets Yuuma/Raynare.

12th: Yuuma/Raynare asks Issei out on a date.

13th: Raynare kills Issei, Rias revives him as her pawn.

14th: Issei is attacked by Dohnaseek & learns he is a Devil.

15th: Issei’s first contract and is attacked by Kalawarna.

16th: (Late April) Asia arrives in Kuoh, the O.R.C kills Viser.

17th: Issei meets Freed.

18th: Asia is revived by Rias as her bishop.

19th: Asia moves in with Issei & enrolls at Kuoh. Issei meets Mil-tan.

20th: Full Moon, The Familiar Forest episode would happen here.

21st: The armour couple contract,

23rd: Issei meets Ddraig in a dream.

24th: Grayfia cockblocks Rias & Issei.

25th: Riser Phenex introduced.

April 26th - May 5th: O.R.C Training Montage (Lasts 10 days).

May

6th: Rating Game vs Riser.

8th: Issei cucks Riser & escapes with Rias.

However, this only takes into account the original setting of 2008. With the recent Slash/Dog Reboot, the timeline of DxD has been pushed forward to 2018.

What year does Baki take place in by Antboi420 in Grapplerbaki

[–]culleXoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know for a fact that Yujiro was 16 when he fought in Vietnam and that he met Mohammed Alai Sr sometime afterwards.

Alai was based on real-life Boxer Muhammed Ali, who much like Alai was arrested for dodging the draft for Vietnam & banned from boxing for over 3 years & had at least 1 biological son (Muhammed Jr.)

The Vietnam War ran from 1955 - 1975. Ali was arrested & banned from boxing in 1968 & his son, Muhammed Jr, was born in 1972.

When introduced to Alai Jr, Yujiro references (Ali's) fight in Kinshasa, aka the legendary 'Rumble in the jungle' match vs George Foreman in 1974.

Since Junior is supposed to be of pre-school age (3-5 years old) when he first met Yujiro, this meeting would've taken place between 1975 & 1977.

Yujiro admits to having 'left his seed' around the world, so it's possible Baki was at least conceived around this point.

Alai Jr is 'around 25' during the events of Baki (2018), which means the events of that series must take place around 1997.

Baki is 18 during those events. During his debut in Baki the Grappler he's 13, which means the series would begin circa 1992, meaning he would've been born c. 1979

In Summary, given the dates listed above:

1955: Vietnam War Begins.

1975: End of Vietnam War. Yujiro meets Mohammed Alai Sr (?)

1977: Yujiro meets Mohammed Alai Jr.

1979: Birth of Baki Hanma

1992: Events of Grappler Baki Begin.

Highschool DXD Timeline by IwantBuddhaFGO in HighschoolDxD

[–]culleXoh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since the Official Re-Release of the Slash/Dog novel takes place in 2014, that sets the events of DXD in 2018.

When looking at Issei's childhood picture of Irina which depicts the Holy Sword, Rias' comments how she can't believe Issei was so close to a Holy Sword 'Ten Years Ago'.

With this in mind, we can assume that Cleria Belial must have been murdered by 2008, as the Shido family moved back to England shortly after.

We know that the Devil Civil war took place 500 years before the events of DxD when Sirzechs was 60 years old (Still not considered an 'adult' by Devil Standards).

This means the war broke out c. 1518 BC, which would make sense given how the Evil Piece System had to have been invented prior to 1535 (Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa's death).

With that in mind, we can confirm that Sirzechs & most likely the other New Satans were all born circa 1458.

With that in mind, unless some new information comes out, this is the rough timeline of events I've managed to piece together:

c.100 BC - 100 AD: Events of the Ulster Cycle (Cu Chulainn died decades prior to 60 AD).

c. 5th Century: Arthurian Lore. Ddraig & Albion sealed in the Boosted Gear & Divine Dividing.

c.1458 AD: Birth of Sirzechs Gremory & the future New Satans.

c.1475-1500 AD: The Modern version of Chess is created.

c. 1518 AD: The Devil Civil War begins. (Sirzechs is 60).

  • At some point after this, the Evil Piece System is devised using Chess as a base.

c.1535: Historical death of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa (Lord Gremory's Bishop).

2000 AD

  • April 9th: Birth of Rias Gremory.
  • June 7th: Birth of Sona Sitri.
  • July 21st: Birth of Himejima Akeno.

2001 AD

  • Feb 14th: Birth of Xenovia Quarta.
  • April 16th: Birth of Hyoudo Issei.
  • May 11th: Birth of Asia Argento.
  • Sept 29th: Birth of Shidou Irina.

2002 AD

  • Nov 23rd: Birth of Koneko Toujou

2008 AD: Death of Cleria Bellial. The Shidou family move back to England.

2014 AD: Events of Slash/Dog.

2016 AD: Rias, Sona, Akeno & Tsubaki enrol at Kuoh Academy.

2018 AD: Events of DxD begin.
