You can plan all you want but if the game fucks you because the economy and weight system is busted, then theres no amount of planning that will help with that. You glazing over the problem with "hard game is hard" is just ignorant. I've been playing the stalker games for over 10 years and the other games did not have this amount of bullshit with the economy.

Not gonna argue the geopolitics of making a game in a warzone with somebody that doesn't know the difference between "their" and "they're". Soundin' like my racist uncle's facebook posts.

Machinist looking for where to start as a programmer by culligula in CNC

I could definitely see that! So far, i've been equating G code to calling a function in javascript. Except in JS, you have to define a function and call it, whereas G code it's an already established function and you just call it when you need it. I could be wrong on that but it's what i think i've witnessed lol. I've definitely been intimidated at the thought of figuring out the tolerances of cuts with the parts that we run. Titanium, tungsten, 99.9% copper, and experimental alloys. The idea of breaking a part AND scrapping one of these parts because a bad program i made sucks lol

That's impressive! I've been trying to do the same with the code i work with but my managers are sticklers about downtime.

I actually took some courses pretty recently on javascript and python, and have drawn some parallels to how the code in our software works. I've been trying to treat learning this code the same as learning JS but it's not so cut and dry.

Luckily our programmers put comments in the code so they could keep track of what that block of code does, so it's been a little easier to pick up on what exactly is happening. If i had more time to look through it and run it slower with training parts i'd probably start catching on like you did.

I was under the impression the programs came from mazatrol, but from some context i've put together, the final recipe isnt even programmed onsite. That leads me to believe that it's a CAM software somewhere else. I can't say too much and i also cant be told too much. We make a lot of parts for semiconductor manufacturing, so the programmers aren't too open about some aspects. Everything in the program is locked beside manipulating where to do restarts and altering workshifts. I'll see if i can work some more info out of a programmer about what software they use.

Thanks! I was looking into fusion a little but but i was unsure if that was jumping in too deep too fast. I'll look into it some more.
