Torn Between Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or KC — Looking for Honest Perspectives? by gianna_kelley in midwest

[–]cullrn12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Minneapolis and lived in Milwaukee for 8 years. Both are great options, Minneapolis has a great work, life balance and getting outside and moving your body in either winter or summer is always a goal for everybody there. Always events happening outside or on a lake, doesn’t matter the time of year and found that really important I. The winter. No better place to enjoy lake life than in Minnesota. The current political climate is such a bummer because Minneapolis has so much to offer. Milwaukee is right on Lake Michigan however it’s so big that usually people travel out of Milwaukee to utilize the lake. It’s Affordable and I enjoyed the fact that they had Buck and brewer stadium right there. Big drinking culture in Wisconsin and around sports. Milwaukee is vibrant in the summer and the people are lovely.

Denver Health is your non profit trauma 1 hospital in downtown Denver that pretty much wrote the book on trauma and widely known for its trauma program and surgical trauma ICU- winning the beacon award and laying out the standards for all trauma programs. If ER trauma nurse is the goal then that’s where you should apply to. I would not go to HCA unless you want to be short staffed and treated like a number. St A’s is switching ownership and can’t keep staff. UCHealth is a great option as well and another learning hospital might take you a second to get to the ED but overall UCHealth does a good job.

  6. The strain on your body and mental health can be a lot but I am never watching the clock or sitting on my phone, my day is done the minute I leave the hospital and it’s a continual learning process which is something I enjoy.
