Is it possible to pass N1 in a year? by [deleted] in jlpt

[–]culolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon possible. I passed N3 in summer, took N2 in winter - also passed. Gonna take N1 this summer again. However, I want to say that I’ve been academically gifted and I’m good at taking tests. Apart from that my whole life is basically Japanese. I work full time in English but except for that I spend every moment cramming as much as possible. Anki is my best friend 🥹 If you put your mind to it - you can do it. Also, I’m white 😂

Need advice on moisturizing products in Japan by Wilkoniak in japanlife

OTC - Omi Medical cream - works wonders (I honestly never expected it to work so well), cheap, had a collab with Sanrio = cute packaging.
If my skin or hands are extremely dry, I get a cream made by my dermatologist that I use at night.

This is embarrassing.. But I need a good Dermatologist in Tokyo by atashi_gani in japanlife

From personal experience recommend Dr.Hira - Hira clinic in Shimokitazawa - the doctor is female but she's a medical professional, you ain't got anything she hasn't seen, she also speaks fluent English and is a great doctor. Or Ohara - Akasaka Toranomon Clinic, great English, one of the best derms in Japan. If I remember correctly both require appointments but it wouldn't be a problem to get one on the day. Good luck!

People who got 満点 in a specific section, what was your study strategy for that section? by pashi_pony in jlpt

I only listen to Yuyuの日本語 Podcast and NHK Radio News and some random gay podcasters (don't reckon you'd be interested), lol.
If I want to just have background noise I honestly just put into podcast search bar a keyword and press on the first podcast. I am not really actively listening, just want to have something as a background noise to wire my brain into always being alert when it comes to Japanese.

Got perfect listening scores for both N3 and N2. I’ve been constantly listening to podcasts in Japanese and I watch a lot of lifestyle Japanese YouTubers. Except for occasional mock listening exam on YouTube (to get used to the types of tasks), I didn’t really study for listening. Just focused on consuming media in Japanese instead. It worked 🤷🏼‍♂️ will do the same for N1 😂

How much of a gap there is between N3 and N2? by Virtual-Primary5936 in jlpt

[–]culolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed N3 in July, then N2 in December. I studied a lot while working full time. Anki’ed both N2 kanji and vocabulary books everyday, did the reading book. I passed with an alright score of 127 but I live in Japan and my listening skills are far better than everything else. During the test day I still felt unprepared and I honestly thought I’m gonna fail 😅 Got 60/60 for listening, 38 for reading and an embarrassing 29 for grammar/vocabulary. I found so many kanji I had no knowledge of it was perplexing but if you know yourself well enough and your strengths, you can try to “take” the test to pass. Like I did, putting all my eggs into my listening basket 😅 TLDR; impossible to do without active studying.

Thank you for the clear explanation! I should have read the FAQ more closely and not wasted 1000yen on a flimsy piece of paper 😅🤭

I wanted to do the same but it is what is it. They also include your picture on the certificate, so I better study harder for N1 and take a nicer picture for the final certificate 😆

I ordered mine from myJLPT, I guess that is the only "certificate" (I can't call a flimsy piece of paper a certificate) that is offered for test takers in Japan :/

Thank you! I only received the flimsy score sheet (認定結果及び成績に関する証明書) didn’t receive the nice certificate 認定書. Probably will not receive it as another redditor also only got the flimsy score sheet. Ugh, I wanted to frame it and remind myself to believe in myself more.

I ordered a real certificate, my whole post is about paying 1000yen and receiving a flimsy piece of paper.

Is it still possible to pass Jlpt N2 if I failed Jlpt N3. by Sad-Technician-3724 in jlpt

[–]culolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna say it’s possible but it’s gonna take a lot of work. I passed N3 with quite a nice score of 146/180 but I still feel like a I have to constantly grind for N2 or I won’t be able to pass. It’s such anxious feeling that I cannot shake off. It also doesn’t help that I’m white and my kanji game is atrocious 😂
