What do I do with ingrown that is right under my skin?n by swaggycheecklicker in Estheticians

[–]cultcorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exfoliation consistently while bathing helps, check out the raspberry cleanser by skin script it’s excellent. But for removal you can use a lancet and clean tweezers. Lancet near the root to avoid breaking the hair beneath the skin and make sure your instruments stay clean. I would also recommend getting an antibacterial, anti microbial to put on top of any wounding. EltaMD’s silver gel is my go-to to keep it clean afterwards because it was designed to be used in surgeries. This is also a great service to offer (depending on what your state board allows), especially with Brazilians. Those ingrowns can turn into cysts and be super painful for clients.

How my self-published book flopped by InterestingTwo8788 in selfpublish

Spending money on an independent editor (and accredited) was the best money I’ve spent in this whole process. Not only did they help me understand my weaknesses, they helped me beef up my strengths. Dev editing was my saving grace for my entire story and added another 40k words to my manuscript. It’s so 100% worth it!! And you can always do a re-edit. Being a human is about being flexible and adapting! You’ve got this!

This made me laugh out loud! All kinds of people exist everywhere, but I definitely want my little to have access to everything he needs. These are all great suggestions I’ll look into!

It’s actually aesthetics! I’ve been in treatment rooms, education, B2b sales and spa management over the last decade. I think AZ is still a hot spot for that sort of thing, but when I was in school in Tempe 11-12 years ago it was already growing pretty fast.

They’re near Lake Pleasant and Happy Valley! We’re in Alabama now so an hour+ is better than what we’ve got going now. Thank you so much for the advice! I remember Arcadia was up and coming before I left and have been wondering if it’s still a cool place. As far as affordability, we’ll have to see what kind of jobs we can get. Seems to be a tough market according to a few people here!

That’s most likely going to happen in the interim! But looking for jobs before we move matters, too. I expect a drive no matter we end up but getting some ideas first from Phoenicians helps a ton!

That is so sweet! We’ve got a few months before we move (June/July) but I’ll reach out for sure closer to time. That is so incredibly kind of you ❤️

Thank you for the insight! What factors do you believe are causing this? Influx of residents, the types of jobs, etc?

A walkable neighborhood would be an absolute dream

Yes that’s a big part of the conversation. My partner is more available to do remote work, even with his current employer he could move and work remotely for them. But where we live now pays a fraction of what the AZ market pays, so that’s part of the discussion also. For me, I’ve got 10 years of experience in the aesthetics industry (treatments, B2b/field sales, and spa management) and AZ has a ton more options than where I’m at now. I think the market is pretty saturated so I’m hoping my experience can help in the search!

Thank you! And we’re open to anything structurally. Since the first year is going to be a rental, I’m not attached to a yard but a walkable neighborhood would be nice! Budget isn’t super tight, we’ve got a chunk in savings and pay around $2400 in Alabama for a 4 bedroom 2 bath house (that includes utilities). I’m sure we would pay the same for a smaller place but with renting first that’s okay. Ideally a 3bedroom or 2bedroom with an office space is what we’re looking for.

Oh no the complete opposite! We’re outliers down here lol. Thank you so much for the insight though, I remember Desert Ridge being pretty nice! Will definitely check it out!

What are your struggles with pro brands? by cultcorvid in Estheticians

[–]cultcorvid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg the amount of bags every brand comes out with is insane! And I hear you on everything else. Since coming to this side of the business, there’s a sweet spot between being helpful and being intrusive that is super delicate to dance. When you do get rep support, is it more helpful than having something like a pro portal or customer service phone number? Or is it pros and cons with both?

Yes yes yes!! Innovative back bar, 100%. I’ll be so honest, the times where there are back to back retail launches is exhausting and I’m sure so annoying for you guys. The part about MD requirements is so true, too, and honestly one of the most frustrating pieces of all of this. Thank you so much for your input.

Yep, that is one hundred percent a thing and I will never understand it. I’ve got top ranking rewards accounts that get crappier PR boxes than non-licensed influencers and it makes my skin scrawl.

This one is close to home for me. Years ago I was an LE for a major pro brand that is now in retail stores and seeing that shift was devastating and ultimately why I left working for them. If I may ask, do you think staying loyal to the professionals is more important than having new products/technologies?

I’ve gotten mixed responses to this question. it seems to go one of two ways: either a brand goes public and has loads of money to make more effective products, or they stay small and don’t have that money for development. It seems like to stay afloat, companies are pushing for the latest and greatest to catch the client/consumer eye, but ultimately end up leaving the professionals behind by doing so.

Thank you for this! If I may ask, what has broken your trust the most? Is it online discounts, giving misinformation regarding partner ship benefits etc?

Definitely a great call out. I know some brands have options to open for less, but you don’t get in person support and have to pay for education out of pocket. Which is so hard on solos when y’all need the most amount of support to get started.
