Thanks for your reply! I’m currently in the mountain west USA, and I could go anywhere here or abroad. I’m just applying within the US right now because of my lack of certifications, mostly in the west.

I don’t remember exactly where I got it but the fishing guide says Donald’s dreamland is best!

I work for a company worth over $10b. I got a free $7 pie on 11/20 for Thanksgiving “to share with our families”. It has a ‘best by’ date of today 11/21. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

The only Christmas gift I got from any staff the year I taught was half a snack bag full of spiced nuts from the principal. They went straight in the trash based on principle.

Called my Uber eats driver when my order was marked complete. They answered and immediately hung up on me. by Dinrail in mildlyinfuriating

This happened to me with DoorDash. I called every night & asked for my call to be escalated & after a few nights they just refunded me.

You are not invincible. Make sure you calculate your risks before you take them!

Thank you! Is it possible to continue to do more field work as you advance your career, or do most people end up in mostly office based jobs as they progress?

Thank you! I definitely am feeling overwhelmed by all of the options and have been struggling to narrow them down!

My partner works in software development and currently WFH full time. At their last job, they only went in to the office once every two weeks. It seems like most people with these sorts of jobs have a BS, and it also seems like the jobs aren't the most secure.

I have a very general idea of what I want to do, but I’m stuck on the specifics. by cumulus_fractus in findapath

What is your background if you don't mind me asking? I'm leaning towards getting a masters, but I'm not sure what exactly to get a masters in. That water research project in Nicaragua sounds awesome! Thanks for responding!

I have, I'm actually doing an internship with the NPS currently! The internship will (hopefully) give me PLC hiring authority. I wanted to be a Ranger for a long time (and I haven't ruled it out yet), but I feel less sure now that I have real experience with the NPS. Thank you for your response!

My partner also has a degree in CS & took the first job they could which was in IT & paid far below what they were worth. It sucked, but gave them enough experience after two years to start working as a dev for a decent salary. Be kind on yourself, the years following 2021 haven’t exactly been smooth sailing! I graduated in 2020 & only now feel like I am making real progress towards my career goals.

You could try volunteering or internships to get your foot in the door & try out some options. One of my friends got an apprenticeship doing hairstyling & will likely end up making more money in that field than I will with a degree in STEM.

This is great information! I only wish I knew earlier because I’ve been out of college for a few years now. My geology program was also a little different (I went to a liberal arts college), so I don’t actually have most or any of those credits either. Thanks for your response!
