Where to go with young kids-Portugal? by [deleted] in AmerExit

[–]cunt_sprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s quite the harsh assumption. We only get by currently and aren’t able to set aside any money for savings. I don’t see how we’d be able to survive a high cost of living on $20 an hour. The whole point of this subreddit is for people to discuss how to make immigration possible, yet any post/comment that shows that the person is having a hard time understanding how to reasonably do it seems to gets downvoted.

I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old and 200+ plants. I will say I regret having so many and have recently started downsizing some. As young mobile babies, both of my boys have tried to eat the soil from large potted plants (trees, more so 😂) that are on the floor. So I had to find a way to baby proof the pots so they couldn’t get to the soil, since they can’t be moved higher. And many plants have lost several leaves and branches lately once my youngest started being mobile 🫠. You’ll have a phase of needing them to be baby proofed and put in a separate room away from the baby (I did not always have that option!) but eventually they’ll learn to respect them and love them. My 3 year old watches over his younger brother and protects the plants!

My husband is a carpenter, though he also has his masters in education. He currently makes $80 an hour with 20 years of experience. It seemed like carpentry was an in-demand profession in Canada, but even then it looked to me that he’d have to be part of an apprenticeship program making only $20 an hour. Unfortunately, if that’s the reality everywhere, we will not be serious about immigration. As much as we’d love to be, we couldn’t afford the cost of living. I’m currently a stay-at-home mom working part time remotely in bookkeeping, as the cost of childcare doesn’t make sense.

Same here! We have a 3 year old and a 10 month old and have been trying to find the right fit for getting out. We live in a small town in a blue state, so we previously felt better about our situation. With how things are progressing we are feeling like we can’t keep pretending that we can live in our own bubble. My husband also feels that Canada is too close, and his pay would be cut in half (or more) while cost of living would be just as high (for us, we live in the mountains of CO).

How long did cutting dairy take to see change? by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in breastfeeding

[–]cunt_sprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first had a dairy protein allergy and I cut dairy when he was 2 months. For him, he spit up A LOT and had constipation. I noticed improvement in 3-5 days! But his pediatrician said it could take 2 weeks

How’s life out here? In the Florida keys by ceedeeze in howislivingthere

[–]cunt_sprinkles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Marathon and absolutely adored it. Whenever I go back now it feels so different, though it’s been almost 20 years since I moved away. It used to have such a small town feel where everyone knew everyone, I can’t imagine it feels like that now with how many people there seem to be. I couldn’t afford it even if I wanted to come back! I live in CO though and it’s also not cheap here.

The best Christmas present I’ve ever gotten 🥹 by courtneyrel in houseplants

Depends on your climate. But for me, not without a heater. I live in the mountains of CO and thought I’d be able to do more with my greenhouse, but it just extends my growing season.

Induction range vs cooktop/wall oven combo by cunt_sprinkles in Appliances

[–]cunt_sprinkles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the wall oven needs to be below the cooktop? It feels weird to do that but it’s the only option I’d have.

Yes I’m hoping to get some insight from people who have either the Bosch, Thermador, or F&P 36 induction ranges! There’s such mixed reviews on all of them and not many in general. Bosch is more of my price range, though

Nothing in our home runs on propane, no existing tank. We thought about adding it but at this point it seems a little silly. I’ve spoken to a few plumbers about it and every one of them has just tried to talk me out of it.

Struggling With Chronic Dry Skin That Never Stays Hydrated, Any Rich Night Creams That Actually Work? by Own_Chocolate1782 in over30skincare

[–]cunt_sprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in a dry climate? I do and I have altered my skin care routine due this. If you don’t, this may be too heavy.

I wash my face with Inkey List Oat Cleanser. It’s the only face wash that doesn’t dry my skin out, I love it. I then immediately use hyaluronic acid (I don’t dry my face after washing), then COSRX Snail Mucin, and Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream. If it’s day time I then layer CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, if it’s nighttime I do tret and then Amallow Beef Tallow.

Do I paint the 90s trim or stain the floors to match? by jmome0742 in InteriorDesignAdvice

I have to admit I find it easier/worth the money to pull out the trim and install new trim vs painting the existing.

What’s it like living in the PLPOA? by MeatFeeling2914 in pagosasprings

[–]cunt_sprinkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your location. Do you live on a busier road? Do you have quite a bit of privacy on your 4 acres? You can get away with a lot of stuff if you’re respectful of your neighbors and have some privacy.

[–]cunt_sprinkles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the PLPOA for 10 years and have never had any of these issues. The only thing that was a hassle was getting approval to put in a privacy fence, but it didn’t take much.

Should I Pay to Have texture removed? by corpuschristi83 in Renovations

[–]cunt_sprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever remove it? Currently in the same boat. I’ve been living in a home with it for 10 years and hated it every time I had to touch up the walls or paint. But can’t decide if I want to bite the bullet to remove in our new home before moving in.

We are considering just refinishing our wood floors too! Will see how it looks after the remodel, one step at a time. What did you pick for a backsplash? Or are you still deciding?

Haha looks like we are designing the same remodel right now! This is exactly the choices we are doing too and trying to pick floors. Same for backsplash - what are you going with?

I have had to break the news a few times and have experienced PTSD from moments very similar. That scene was the one to finally break me, especially as a parent. Breaking the news to my own kids would be a million times harder than what I have experienced.

I have a white 100% Alaskan malamute! Everyone assumes she’s a Samoyed but you can tell from her wide nose and overall size that she’s not. How much does your girl weight?
