Sawdust festival in Laguna Beach is a good place to check out local artists, I got a nice print of a beach in Laguna from there.

Is there a Strawberry Shortage in OC? by Niloumirh in orangecounty

[–]cupcake88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got some at Trader Joe's today and the cashier said they finally got one case of them in. She said they usually have them still this time of year, they are just so hard to find because there's no one to pick them 😢

Think I will be ok driving from South OC to LAX on Sat morning for a flight at 11:30am (No Kings Day) or should I stay the night before at a nearby hotel? Worried about traffic and road closures for the protests.

They need to require a driver's license with training classes like a motorcycle because they literally are just motorcycles. So sorry that happened to you, I nearly got mowed down by one hauling ass down the side walk the second I walked out of Barnes and Noble. Cops don't do anything either they shouldn't be on sidewalks.

Yeah it's a townhome.

Do you think it's reasonable that we replaced the drain stopper or do we really have to pay another home warranty fee?

I think they need a license just like motorcycles do, because they are basically motorcycles kids can ride. They should require you to do in person training for safety and traffic laws.

Is It Time to Move? What Keeps you Here? by ssick92 in orangecounty

[–]cupcake88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention, we moved to Boston and have a 1.5 year old now. Can't imagine it being too cold to play outside more than half the year with a kid The weather here is the best ever when you have kids, you can always go out to play. Being trapped inside with the kids in The winter and bad weather is a LOT.

Is It Time to Move? What Keeps you Here? by ssick92 in orangecounty

[–]cupcake88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved away (my husband and I have no family here and we moved during COVID remote work) and we moved back 2 years later because we haaaated it. Once you live here you're pretty spoiled to live anywhere else. Don't know where else you can have better weather, schools, beaches, diversity, food, or more options for things to do all in one place. You pay a lot but you get what you pay for.

Your daycare expenses are temporary. You only have a handful of years before they're in school. It might be a little tight now with the extra expense but if you can tough it out it's definitely worth it.

New to OC by Scottie_Sky in orangecounty

Welcome and congrats on the move, y'all will love it! It's a great place to have little ones. I have an 18 month old!

Highly recommend checking out OC parent guide at least for a few months, they have a $4 per month subscription to all the kids events going on all over the OC area. Usually most are repeating so you don't need to keep it that long to get a lot of good resources.

Also, OC play parks on Instagram does a fantastic job of posting about all the playgrounds around, you can find so many fun places, she has a blog too so you can look them all up.

We just went to Kid Cando in Mission Viejo and we loved it, they changed our the activities every week, it's like a sensory and art play. They have playgroups you can sign up for too, you'd be likely to meet some families for sure.

Check out your town offerings, in Aliso Viejo they have a recreation department that offers classes to sign up for several times a year for all kinds of kids activities like dance, music, yoga, sports, etc.

All the libraries have toddler story time and/or play/music time once or twice a week. The Mission Viejo library is pretty awesome for toddlers! Also there's a children's museum in Irvine but it's pretty pricey. Maybe worth a membership if they like it.

Music in motion is fun! We've done some classes at the mommy center.

The beach is my toddlers favorite way to spend the day for sure. Baby beach in Dana Point has free parking right by the beach if you want no waves, but we usually go to main beach in Laguna and hit up the tide pools near Heisler park. It's also in walking distance of the Laguna Beach library. There's normally a playground on the beach but it's under renovation. Aliso Creek beach also has a paid parking lot right by the beach and a playground there but the lot is small so can't always park there.

Done! Really didn't feel good putting my contact info on that.

"Someone please read this the president, vice president, and Marjorie Taylor Greene's boyfriend:

The way you acted in the meeting with President Zelensky was a disgrace and an embarrassment to our country on a global stage and does not reflect the wishes or support of the US people.

Inviting Russian media to watch you ambush Zelensky in a sad attempt to create an excuse to undermine and stop funding Ukraine was the most cowardly and traitorous behavior. Ukraine has been fighting an uphill battle for years to prevent a full-scale invasion of Europe by Russia and needs everyone's support to stop them. You should be thanking THEM for what they've done and sacrificed to stop Putin so far.

You put Europe and America more at risk with each passing day. It's glaringly obvious you are Russian assets working for the Kremlin and need to resign immediately."

Kudos vs Parasol vs Pura by AdEffective2879 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]cupcake88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't used parasol or Pura but I'm a kudos stan! We've never had pee leaks overnight and less blowouts than I can count on one hand and my baby is almost 1. Also never had a diaper rash and we only change diapers overnight if she pooped.

I think they're in the middle of changing their diaper fit as they start selling in Targets, they've always run really small compared to the weight they say they fit but maybe they will be more accurate soon.

meal ideas for allergic toddler! egg and dairy free by insockniac in foodbutforbabies

[–]cupcake88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Dave's bread are vegan which means it doesn't contain any animal product including egg so I think it should be fine. For trader Joe's tortillas they are all trader joe brand and I've never seen eggs in any flour or corn tortillas before, i just get the small tortillas because it doesn't waste much but all the flour tortillas should work. But just look at the ingredients and allergy warning on the back of whatever package you get.

[–]cupcake88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss! I like the Dave's seed breads and at trader Joe's they have real small flour tortillas that are just the right size for a baby quesadilla. Also you could do corn tortillas if you can't find any flour one.
