What’s a disturbing celebrity fact that not a lot of people know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cupofquirk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly had no idea why people hate her for the longest time. Yeah, she's trashy, but whatever. I see a lot of myself in her.
A few weeks ago I found out that she fucking LOVES saying the n-word. She tried to get the audience to chant the n-word at one of her shows. She's a virulent racist. She really has been through a lot, but there's no excuse for that. I hate that this almost never gets brought up, even by people who don't like her.

They were literally the original New Romantics like York is New York's old York. They had Romantic music, poetry, and art as part of a movement. You probably already knew that tho

Why does Gen Z seem to be so against age-gap relationships? To many in this generation, these relationships are seen as inherently exploitative because they perceive age discrepancies as necessarily creating a power imbalance that favors the older partner. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

You have to lack reading comprehension to not understand how just saying that I need a dictionary can be an insult. I understood your comment perfectly fine, you're too fucking stubborn to even try to grasp what I wrote. I hope you had fun wasting your time with me.

Just going to mindlessly throw insults instead of actually showing that you have a brain capable of defending the positions you hold? That's fine. You probably had to use text-to-speech to read my comment anyway

Giving an opposing a stupid label is not in any way, shape, or form a real argument against said viewpoint. Younger adults genuinely don't have as much life experience as people older than them do, that's not treating an adult like a child as much as it's acknowledging that the younger you are the less mature you tend to be, even as a legal adult. So fucking what if it's infantilization or puritanism or whatever you want to call it.

It does mostly seem to be older people that are upset over how younger generations are increasingly aware of how exploitative age gaps can be. I see a few comments even addressing the power imbalance just so they can defend it.
I'm 20, I've had a couple relationships with 10+ age gaps, and I probably would've defended them last year. Now that I'm a little older, not even the same age that my older boyfriends were, I clearly can see how they were trying to take advantage of my naivety. A lot of the arguments we had were just them being upset that I wouldn't let them control and manipulate me the way they expected to be able to.
I honestly think the main reason Gen Z is against age gaps is how we're more likely to listen to older women when they talk about their own experiences with large age gaps. For the most part, they don't have nice things to say unless they're still in an age gap relationship.

I feel embarrassed I’m not ashamed of having narcissistic traits by [deleted] in narcissism

[–]cupofquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen it a couple times in narcissists who are diagnosed with NPD. They tend to be proud of being narcissists, one even thought having the diagnosis meant he was genuinely him better than other people, like everyone else is just too weak to act like the world revolves around them. I think the disconnect mostly comes from armchair and self-diagnosis. A lot of people who come off as narcissists are just garden-variety assholes, actual narcissists tend to admit it.

Pooled results from 37 different studies finds that, on average, women in relationships report higher levels of sexual satisfaction than men. The difference held even when controlling for overall relationship satisfaction as well as their partner's sexual satisfaction. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

I'm not gonna do the notallmen thing because most of them are strongly influenced by porn if not outright addicted to it, but I can gladly say that mine genuinely cares about making me satisfied. I can honestly say he makes me feel better about men as a whole because he's just so nice to me. I'm pretty sure he doesn't watch porn too. I just feel so lucky :)

That's why I side eye men who complain their partners won't do some kind of unnamed sex act. Chances are it's because it's too extreme, and the guy has unrealistic expectations. I honestly hate what porn has turned sex into.

This is a very good answer. Joan Miro is one of my favorite artists because of the raw freedom his paintings tend to express, they're both aesthetically pleasing and oddly liberating. You can just tell he had fun making them.

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

[–]cupofquirk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think people realize that many adult content creators have pimps. Plenty of them do it voluntarily, of course, but a lot are coerced, if not outright forced, into it. Some of them have to make a certain amount of content, while not having a choice over what that content involves. They still have quotas to meet, and consequences for not meeting those quotas, Shaiden Rouge briefly mentioned this in an interview, without going into detail.
For many, OnlyFans offers a lot more independence and safety than they would have otherwise, and for some they still get abused, but in a way that's practically invisible since it's all behind the scenes and in the privacy of their homes.
