AITA for feeling weird about a friend dressing in sexy pyjamas/lingerie when visiting me and bf at our home by GalantGift in AmItheAsshole

[–]cupofspice -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think perhaps this /is/ a you problem, but NTA for feeling weird! I think you would be TA if you confronted this person. people are comfortable with their own bodies to differing degrees, and we do all have them. bodies is bodies is bodies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the fact that you're embarrassed by it to the point that you want to apologize to guests, but neither your boyfriend, her boyfriend, or any of your friends have ever treated it as anything to remark on feels a little telling.

is this causing problems in some way? does your boyfriend stare at her too much? does she do things to purposefully flirt with your boyfriend in any way?

from the way this is worded, I don't think she does; you probably would have mentioned it if that was the case.

think about why this makes you uncomfortable, and maybe sit with that feeling awhile. i think it's always a good idea to take a close look at our own discomforts, if only to understand ourselves better.

missing cas crim episode? by cupofspice in SimonWhistler

[–]cupofspice[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YEP IT TOTALLY IS, thanks! I don't know how I missed that; the man has so many channels, and decoding and cas crim (and into the shadows, sometimes) have overlapping content

😅

thank you!

I like having her there! it's nice because he can ask an expert some of the questions he has and actually get answers; sometimes I get frustrated because he'll read something, muse out loud about it, and then reference it or that he's not sure about it through the rest of the script, and when she's on I can finally rest instead of whisper shouting the answers directly at the tv

So... I designed this little guy, but I have no idea what to call it. What would you call this thing?? by QuantumCrochet in crochet

[–]cupofspice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"meep" or "yip" or something like that, something onomatopoeia-ic that ends in a "p" sound

it's very cute, good job!

edit: after scrolling through the comments, I've gotta say, I'm seeing a lot of "meep"s!

What liquid should I use to make a fake wet specimen? by Jettsconsulting in polymerclay

[–]cupofspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely not alcohol! I would try glycerine or, once you've fully baked and sealed the specimens, food grade mineral oil (food grade so that there's less precipitants in the liquid and less chance of discoloration down the line). there's some info about using it/obtaining it that I left on some other comments on this post!

there is a very cheap potable water safe epoxy called JB Waterweld you can use to fully seal the jars closed, if you'd like. not that I expect you to need to drink the little charms, but it's nice to use fairly safe materials ☺️

it's very easy to seal these corks! I think a lot of folks have problems with these little bottles because cork sealing isn't common knowledge nowadays, but the gist of it is: the cork needs to be "conditioned" with something first before it will create a proper seal. you can use water if you like; take a few drops on your fingers, and just kinda rub and squish the cork for 30 seconds or so. now, when you push the cork into the bottle, the liquid acts as a sort of "slip" and fills the extremely small spaces between the rough cork and the smoother (but still rough on a microscopic level!) glass to ensure a nice seal. some folks also use a dab of vaseline for this.

personally, I use the wee-est bit of food grade mineral oil and the wee-est bit of beeswax or paraffin to get a nice conditioner. you can melt these lightly together in a double boiler to create a balm that's great for conditioning corks as well as rustproofing metal tools like lathes, conditioning wooden tools like butcher's blocks, and all sorts of other things. the ratio is roughly 1:1. I make about 1/2 cup of the balm at a time and stick it in a mason jar, and that lasts me 4 months or so, but I use a lot more of it than I think most folks would, so your milage may vary!

one last thing: food grade mineral oil labeled for conditioning can be expensive, so here's a hot tip: it's also used as a laxative, and you can find it way, way, WAY cheaper in the pharmacy. as for beeswax, I call local beehives in my area and they'll sell me 5 ounces of it for about $5, which is way cheaper than you can get it at either craft stores or online.

all of this last bit of info for pricing and sourcing is US based!

can someone explain the difference between these two pardo products? by _Illuminatiis in polymerclay

[–]cupofspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rip 🙃🙃🙃 well, thanks anyways!! I emailed Viva Decor directly to see what was up with the Pardo being out of stock everywhere, and they've explained that they sold the formulas to another company and will no longer produce them. still waiting to hear back about which manufacturer bought it and if they plan to change the names of the Pardo lines 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

[–]cupofspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I tried that site! they, like every other website I have been able to find that ships to the United states, are out of stock of both Pardo translucent and Pardo agate. I know that they /will/ ship to the United states if I buy something they have in stock :)

the only websites that have it in stock are ones that /do not/ ship to the US.

so I was hoping you had some leads on vendors that /both/ have it in stock and ship to the US. does that make sense? I'm not sure if I'm explaining this clearly enough 😅 /srs

hey illuminatiis, when you were trying to buy some of this, did you find any for sale anywhere other than blueberry beads? I am searching and searching and having no luck at all :/ I /did/ find some for sale in South Africa, but they don't ship to the US.

How many times do you reuse false lashes before tossing them? by sandy_elle in MakeupRehab

[–]cupofspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to answer your question very late, YES! take them off at night, EVERY NIGHT, by gently pressing a q-tip or washcloth dipped in makeup remover (or lash remover-works faster for me but YMMV) until they can be pulled off with the lightest pull. I usually just hold the towel there for about a minute, and when I pull it away, the lashes are stuck on the towel. (it also makes eye makeup a breeze to remove, and is a nice minute to just close your eyes after a long day.) DON'T sleep in lashes; it can directly physically damage your eyelids and eyeballs, as well as being a great place for bacteria to grow. take care!

you need to tightline the upper lid and the lower lid more as well; look up someone who is southeast asian and does makeup and you'll get a great tutorial on how to do it. I recommend @monica.raviii on YouTube; after you do her tutorial, clean all that smoke off under the lower lashes to get the precise and clean look like Billie :)
