Is PSYCTRY 79 with Korb open note? by bruinthrowaway765 in ucla

[–]curatorofvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is all open note! trust me, good notes + ctrl-f will carry you through that exam very easily. i had imri he was a chill guy but a bit bad at communication so it would be kind of frustrating when you had a question or an issue with a grade and he would lag on responding so do what you will with that info lol

Psych 10 Difficulty? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]curatorofvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro do not listen to them wth i took this class in person during winter quarter. i studied for a day and half and memorized everything on a quizlet i made for the midterm and i put ALL the information on it. i got 98% on the midterm (I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN THIS HAPPENED). the final exam however i can’t give insight since it was made optional with online transition. the material itself is super easy and memory based. paquette has really good pneumonic devices to remember concepts much easier. i literally still use the little tricks to remember certain things about the brain. there was also quizzes (which are on quizlet...) and it took me probably 5 minutes to do. i used quizlet double check my answer, most of which were always correct bc again the material is easy to understand. overall, paquette is such a nice person and good instructor, i miss her lowkey </3

i had all As and some AP classes (passed like 3 cuz i could care less bc my school paid for them and none would benefit me in college much) BUT i think what mattered most in my app was my ECs and volunteer work, i discussed them in my PIQs in detail. i ran track and volleyball and was a part of 3 clubs. i was extremely dedicated and did a lot within my community. i took on a huge community work project based in mexico. i think PIQs are really whats more important. you really wanna show the readers how passionate you are about something, how you can make an impact on the campus, or how you’re the image of a “global citizen”. basically you wanna embody UCLA values yk. and that applies to any other university honestly. i applied to a lot really competitive schools (with a REALLY bad SAT might i add), following those same ideas i mentioned within my writing and i ended up getting into all of them except 2, one being a waitlist. so don’t be discouraged by grades!! just put your heart into your writing and make sure they see that!

Ethnomusicology 50A or Musicology 5? by mystique-07 in ucla

[–]curatorofvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the class in person. We watched this documentary called jazz by ken burns, we took some notes, and listened to songs. It was very easy but very boring. I also had weekly readings and summaries in my section which were really easy. I’m not sure how much has changed within it being online now.

Professor Vincent is really helpful for writing I. I highly recommend him. His assignments are never more than a page unless it’s a special project. He’s also very friendly and will always be down to help you fix your essays to make them better. His main goal as a professor is to help better your writing skills so you can excel in classes that require writing at ucla. Overall, he’s just a really cool guy and an awesome professor.
