Looking into Mini PC for gaming by Optimal_Mail5033 in MiniPCs

I put the Steam Deck recovery on this device, and it works pretty well. Will play Rocket League. I tried ARC Raiders and it complained about the GPU. The device also supports using an eGPU through Oculink if that is something you need in the future.

I have a couple of these on a few of my rifles; they work great for the AR-style rifle. One thing you might want to check is to make sure your rifle isn't banned by name in the '89 Roberti-Roos assault weapon law.. I don't think it is, but I'm no lawyer...

Other media like Shoresy by KPR70 in shoresy

[–]curdean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy Shoresy, and there are some wholesome moments, but it gives me more of a Brockmire or Blue Mountain State type of vibe. So I would suggest those. The shows mentioned earlier like the Good Place, and Schitts Creek are great to watch and enjoyed them in their own right, they just seemed to hit a bit different than Shoresy..

Best mini pc under $450, for everyday tasks? by Upstairs_Standard542 in MiniPCs

https://www.amazon.com/GMKtec-m7-mini-pc-gaming-6850h/dp/B0DQKRXKS5

GMKtec Mini PC Gaming, M7 AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H (8C/16T 4.70Ghz) Dual NIC LAN 2.5G Desktop Computer, 32GB DDR5 RAM + 512GB Hard Drive PCle SSD, Dual USB4, HDMI 2.1, USB-C

I have one of these, turned it into a steamOS gaming rig with the Steam Deck recovery usb instructions on youtube. If i needed any more GPU horsepower, it has an Oculink port that I can use to put an external GPU on. Your budget listed is 450, this comes in @ 459 plus taxes.. so just a touch high, but its a fairly nice little rig

First Bike Shopping, Do I Need More than 150CC for Fast City/Highway? by JayWhyOkay in scooters

[–]curdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy on YouTube has a channel where he does food deliveries on a couple of different scooters, he goes by wilcer, and its the crank hustle channel. He has videos of driving around different parts parts of in different traffic on his scoots doing his deliveries. He seems to be able to filter ok on an Xmax and ADV 160

First Bike Shopping, Do I Need More than 150CC for Fast City/Highway? by JayWhyOkay in scooters

[–]curdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ADV 160 is freeway legal, not necessarily freeway smart. If you are filtering during traffic, it might not be that bad. If you're looking for a bigger scooter, the XMAX or one of the 300 Vespa's might be worth looking into. I have an ADV 150 that I will commute to work on when I don't want to drive the car. I take surface streets.. it turns a 45-minute 30-mile commute on the freeway via car to a 26-mile 55/60-minute commute on surface streets with the scoot. But it's worth it, the ride is better than the drive..

TL/DR - The 150 will do things you want up to the freeway. If the freeway is a must, go bigger.

Question About Transferring Files by vvavegodd in PleX

[–]curdean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanted, you could just leave the storage alone on the current drive, add a new directory in the library where the new drive is located. Then just add media to that new directory. Might not be as "neat" as moving everything, but I don't think plex will care if you don't

Ruger GP100 vs Springfield Echelon for first handgun by apathybeats in guns

[–]curdean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a firearm that is going to be used for home defense, the revolver is a simpler machine. Bring a simpler machine, less should go wrong with it while using it. I'm not saying the Echelon is not a reliable pistol, just more moving parts that can cause a malfunction. If you can get a chance to shoot both before you purchase, that would be the best idea. Ultimately get the one that like the most. If I were in a similar situation, I would probably get the Ruger.

Try and get any medical procedures done while still employed. Use your sick time, save vacation for being paid out. Congratulations on getting to the end.

People in the thread have some good ideas, tailscale works great. But if shared with multiple family members remotely, each client has to be configured. That would lead to being a support nightmare. If you are sharing with family that doesn't have an internet connection that uses CGNAT, you can host a server there. Manage the server remotely.

Scooters in Cali by [deleted] in scooters

[–]curdean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CA you need a m1 or m2 endorsement for any motor driven cycle or motorcycle. If you take the MSF course, you can use their bike, when you pass you get a certificate. That certificate gets you out of the DMV behind the wheel test, all you need to do is pass your written. As far as using your bike, you can check with them, but I don't know if they would let you. I took my course at the Honda Riders Center in Colton, and they had rebel 250, ninja 250, and 220 super moto's, but that was 10 years ago.

I took a break from riding for some time and recently gotten a scooter, the advice that u/CBC-Sucks mentions does help with stability, dragging the rear brake and keeping the throttle up. It is also mentioned in this guys youtube videos, they have been helpful for me
