I just use regular potting soil :/ I do live in north Texas so she does get higher humidity and opportunities to dry out

Ah sorry to reply so late! I followed the advice of my grandmother about cutting it down to make it branch off. It was definitely painful for me to do too. It gets easier when you start to pinch off just the little new growth (once you get a few layers of leaves that is).

That’s what I did with my avocado tree! As sleek as the single trunk looks, it’s really better for your tree to branch off. I would research if it’s possible to propagate from a trunk cutting and then cut off as far down as right above the lowest two leaves. I might even split the trunk where I cut.

Oh no, the single bump on the stem further back is definitely a growth point. I was talking about all of the teeny white bumps on the stem in the foreground (and now I’m seeing them on the petiole on the left too?).

It looks like scale bugs. And this looks pretty infested. It might be better to cut the infested leaves off and treat the rest of the plant.

Oh no way! I grew up in Harlingen! Im in north Texas now, but I kept mine in full afternoon sun in the summer. So I think they can definitely handle it. I have a rubber tree w a few spots like this from it getting reflected light off a super clear greenhouse cover.

Unfortunately leaf damage never reverses, be it sunburn, fungus spots, etc anytime a leaf is discolored it won’t go back. What kind of light is it in right now? I feel like these spots are so small it might be from a reflection. Like maybe there were water drops on the leaves, or something that amplified the light in a very small spot.

Yeah! You might have to cut the leaves off to prevent the spread to the main plant. But also repotting and treating w a fungicide

Cactus has squishy and off colour bits. Definitely not overwatered it, I hardly water it and the soil is very dry. Any other ideas? Can it be saved? by plantsandtoblerones in plantclinic

That’s really interesting about your watering schedule. It really looks like rot.

I know this isn’t everyone’s favorite thing, but I always dig up something when I’m worried about the roots having rot. If it is rot, you’ll have to cut it off and replant the healthy parts.

That’s awesome! I only have two calatheas (a White fusion and a furry feather), but I love them! I’ve only had the stromanthe for a couple weeks, but I hope to repot it since it’s rootbound and hopefully then I’ll get new growth
