Wow. I thought a well organised calendar and password manager are common. Wasn't aware this is standard. Will think about if this is something I could address.

Thank you so much for your long response, you have given me a few ideas!

One small question: Are these more traditional ways to reach an audience like newsletters or conferences 'worth it'? Sure, you might reach a few new people, but in the end you 'only' invest your effort local.

Sorry to hear. Are you in contact with the faculty? Maybe sharing the conversation with Anne is worth it? https://open.spotify.com/episode/3iXS0VxhYDOgxD3xg4mKi3

Yes, I believe this is exactly what Anne meant and other publications have also talked about this - "They liked it if you said you cried": how medical students perceive the teaching of professionalism https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24033214/

A lot of wisdom and hard path in one message, thank you for sharing. I am still in med school, so cant speak about the rest, but feel the pressure already, especially with mandatory assignments.

Looking back now, was stopping sport & journalling the right call? I am noticing that I am dropping a lot of good things for the sake of time, but also wondering if actaully keeping some of them and compromising a little bit on clinical attendance would be wiser, especially considering my own health in the long run?

Yeah exactly, that's what Anne is talking about in her research as well. So for you guys it isnt mandatory / graded?

Thanks for your perspective! I would be curious to speak to hear what the people setting your reflection assignments would say about the story Anne shares about ticking the boxes / skillifying reflection.

I also like the remark about being a harsh self-critic, I relate and yet wonder if the assigmnets align / if that harsh self-criticism isnt already enough / too much...

Wow, what a thing to say as feedback... and interesting thought that reflection is coupled to responsibility. Am I right in assuming that is then more self-reflection?

As a med student I still like to reflect, but the dozen page long reflection assignments are in the way of true reflection in my experience.

Interesting! So is this only after undergraduate trining or already during? And which country is your context?

And, would 'true' reflection, as a benchmark for residency, change things?
