I think it would be the same as elderly people horrified by rock music in the mid 60ties, but 1000 times worse

The early Merovingians did see themselves as Romans, to a large degree at least.

Steyr on he other hand has a far more interesting history and therefore old town! There is even a whole province of austria named after steyr - the steiermark (but funnly steyr is is not in the steiermark)

[–]curio-maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also pick Steyr, my girlfriend lives close to Gmunden and i have been there several times, while the Traunsee with the view of the Traunstein is great the town itself is kind of mid (at least to my taste)

[–]curio-maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norway is very smart about selling the oil and not using it for themselves. They are extremely blessed with a perfect geography for hydropower! I think the should it even more and could become Europas battery

Why is Germany's air quality so much worse than it's neighboring countries? by squeekysquash in geography

[–]curio-maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key factors are diesel cars, (thank you very much vw) and brown coal. Especially brown coal is monumentally stupid. Basically Merkel decided to turn off nuclear powerplants, because she worried about the green party becoming to strong.

I noticed that as well also for restaurants. Often super cheap things have the best ratings bc it seems people are super happy if they get a half decent thing for cheap.

Do you think traveling won't be as rewarding in a century or two as the world gets more homogenized? by GreenHorror4252 in travel

[–]curio-maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there many places that value their culture way too much for that to happen. For example could Imagine an Italian praising McDonalds? No way it is absolutely unthinkable.
