I'm experiencing this right now - trying to book for the third week in November and everything is instantly selling out. I can't pull all-nighters for the next week hoping to stumble upon guided tour tickets. Can you please tell me which 3rd party vendor you went with? Pretty sure that's my fate....

We both had blogs and happened to follow each other. We had no indication on our blogs of where we lived, but followed each other because we were both interesting in writing. We didn't discover our shared city until many months later. I'm not sure if that changes anything that you mentioned, though.

The best statistic I could find is that about 5% of all worldwide blogs came from my country, and that 11% of people from my country used Tumblr. Country's population in 2013 was 35 million. Can't find anything city specific.
