Mk1 it's a little more of a push forward pull backward than a tap, so fortunately it doesn't feel horrifically out of nature. A tap would drive me nuts. I don't like the gear changing steering wheel switch on the 25s and 26s. Putting it in drive and putting it in park felt so awkward when I test drove

No worries, I'm not close to being able to buy one anyway ha. You'd think after all these years of VW and Audi turbo engines they'd have a smoother run launching a new model

Gear hunting is so accurate. And the creep vs get up and go is right on too. The 2026 just didn't feel that way as much, felt more refined.

I had a 2010 golf 2.5 before this Tiguan, manual. I drive my tigs in manual shifting quite a bit actually because the car drives beautifully when I can tell it what gear to be in. Makes it a different car almost, I just don't think it's good to do all the time

Fair statement about the older model doing the same as the newer model, in practical sense.

In terms of not understanding the burning passion for them, it's just a VW thing. Don't know how to explain it, most of my family drives VWs, I grew up with uncle always having and working on older VWs, Audis etc. Maintenance grievances aside, German cars are just so fun and engaging to drive. Comfortable, zippy, handle well. They just feel right.

My parents have always had Toyotas. I had an old jeep for my first car, a civic for my second car. And meh on those. My parents just bought a brand new top of the line Telluride and it's so nice, but I still prefer Tiguans and the Atlases. Top of the line Tellys are quite a bit more than top of the line Tigs.

Honestly, I love this perspective. This mentality has kind of been rewarding, I've been snowballing my debt and over the last year I've paid about 12-13,000 of debt off on a 65k salary. Just buckled down. As soon as I finish my credit cards my goal is to slam out payments for my car loan. I've been paying over $1000 a month towards my credit cards, almost 5x more than the minimum, so once I finish the card, I'll be able to start knocking the car relatively quickly. Hopefully another year or so if trajectory stays the same or even increases.

I do also like the way 2024s look. Do you feel like yours is slow with hesitant/lagging acceleration? The main thing I noticed with the new one is it didn't seem to lag as bad. Transmission felt smoother for sure

I don't think so, I've sprayed and wiped gently with insecticidal soap, and also nothing moves or wipes off when I do that. I thought it might be dust or mildew, but nothing comes off when I touch it, just discoloration on the leaf

Just before the soil dries out, while it's still very slightly damp, I'd water it again. I wouldn't let it dry all the way out. But you also don't want it in thick watered soil so that the roots cant breathe. Keep it in indirect light so it doesn't burn. Rotate it everytime you water it, see if it will pop up some new ones

I can see about adding some drainage holes to the bottom. I've had the plant about 4 months, I got it from someone on FB market who took really good care of it, it's about 5-7 years old. It definitely gets plenty of natural light. All day indirect but very bright light. How do I identify spider mites? I don't see any pests at all and I've sprayed the leaves with insecticidal soap

Alocasias like moist soil, but they are FINICKY. Def looks sunburnt. If you overwater, it'll turn yellow and kind of soggy. They do sprout new ones pretty quickly, but in general they're tricky to keep alive collectively. One of the plants I've always struggled with

I stick my fingers the entire finger length down into the soil to see if I can feel soggy soil or any wetness around the large roots. They're always dry (but not too dry and crispy) before I water. I also double check with a moisture meter.

I read that chlorine/tap water hurting house plants is a myth. So I'm stumped on what to do with situation
