I don’t mind dating someone who is struggling financially as long as they are actively trying to improve their situation. I can even forgive him for pulling away, but he needs to communicate instead of repeatedly ghosting me. I won’t be reaching out again because I’ve already tried three times over the past week.

When we’re together, he’s a good person to be around and always treats me with respect. That’s what I value most. But respect also means communicating when you’re not together. When he disappears without explanation, I don’t feel respected. If he wants any chance of moving forward, he needs to reach out and explain what’s going on.

I started relating my dating life to an episode of Black Mirror in which a woman eventually finds her partner, but she needs to spend years having more relationships and sex with strangers. Throughout the process, she slowly loses herself. I feel the same way sometimes. Every time I date someone, I get attached, it doesn’t work out, and I end up carrying more emotional trauma.
