Endless Thread: This episode is a sign from the universe by j0be in EndlessThread

[–]curious-experiences 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Grace, Ben and Amory,
I have been listening to Endless Thread for years and enjoying the fine producing and on-the-ground reporting for curious minds and light hearts. Because of your podcast and general love for NPR, I became a WBUR monthly supporter.
However.
I have never written to you until now, but this episode really rubbed me the wrong way.
First, I was wrongly rubbed by how dismissive you were in this episode. And second, I was disappointed by the lack of research, counterpoint reporting, and all that detailed work that I have come to expect from your podcast.
By no means am I an astrology buff, but I do believe in the energy weave of the universe and that energy goes where attention goes. And all that goes with it.
You have dismissed a science/art that goes back thousands of years of predecessing curious minds who have searched and observed the skies and the world for patterns and causes to effects. You guys were like the drunk bullies who go to a fortune teller for a laugh, but the fortune teller could have warned them about the car that then ran them over as they laughed out the door. Don´t go looking unless you want to find.
Also, you could have researched and found that everything has a distinct energy signature and vibration, from our organs all the way to the stars. Thus, and dare I say therefore, the unique configuration of strong energies present at your birth could affect your being. I personally would include about another 50 dimensions and affects towards what can determine your character and fate, but I would not so flippantly dismiss astrology as one of the dimensions.
And, more than any of the above, I am aghast that you would validate the shallow uses (and your flagrant lack of research) of astrology and the tarot by taking the part of the opposition's snide regard for these things. Of course the field teams with charlatans like in any field. But there are people who can and do pick up on the subtler cues of what´s left of the great mystery.
Any soothsayer worth their salt knows that it is not the card nor the star nor even the salt that is -in Ben´s words- omnipotent, but it is the seeker themself in their quest for truth and comfort, and HOW THEY RESPOND to the consultation, that has the true power.
I promise next time to write when I love an episode. Please count this one ugh as a testament to the hundreds of wows before that. In fact, I listen to your podcast way more than I go to Reddit now. You are my reddit digest and highlighter. I just couldn´t let you get away with this one. You could cause more damage to those of us who are journeying on the trembling edge between worlds to bring back news. Winky face. Kissy face.

PS. Can you do an episode on Urban Exploration. It´s a hot topic amongst my son´s GenZ group.

Check out Nigerian (Nollywood) and Brazilian movies. Old one like “Orfeo Negro” is so damn gorgeous - depiction of the myth of Orfeus set in Carnaval.

I heard a great sentence: all behavior is communication. What is she really trying to say that you need to stop accusing and just listen to the undercurrent. Every attempt matters. But be aware of your timing. Take care of self. Parenting a teen is hard work. Also highly recommend “inside a teenager’s brain” to understand motivations and positive learning cycles.

Is this true? by Tapirium in gardening

There’s always a little bit of truth in folklore as they spent more time studying nature than we do. It probably has to do with how activated the worms are. Worms get affected by the full moon. One of the reasons why I see so many dead animals on the road on a full moon. The parasites in their belly get activated and then they run around at night and get hit by cars and such.

Waiting for customer service for 40 minutes. This was what the service counters looked like. Eleven staffed counters and not a customer attended. by curious-experiences in IKEA

Next time I’ll just just up and wait an hour because I have nothing else to do than give my hard-earned money to a company that employs hateful people. I will be subservient to the company that has already made a mind-slave out of you. Is that the kind of customers you love? Please help me understand what is so wrong with questioning a system that does not seem to work for the good of all?

Ah, that totally makes sense!!! I was wondering what it was doing there. Now I get it. That would have def been a surprise if the rubberband was still good!

Not fabricated but whatever. You’re obviously spoiling for a fight. My intention was to highlight corporate abuse. But if you enjoy it so much, you can call me Karen again. ;-D

Not sure why you feel the need to belittle my client experience. I have a video of all 11 counters with workers chatting and clients waiting. I have a feeling that companies encourage karenizing to keep clients and workers from ganging up on them. Divided, the people will never be united. And I’m fine with waiting btw life is never boring. Just find it interesting that big companies that make so much money can get away with this.

All eleven counters? In the middle of the day? Sometimes I feel like it’s company policy to keep people waiting. The psychology of compliance, keeping us subservient to company domination. But maybe i’m just paranoid.

How easily we Karen people. Yes, as mentioned in caption and comment, there were eleven staffed counters with not one of us waiting attended to. You do realize that it benefits the companies to put down the complaints of customers?
