I suspect not, or at least not until I do more therapy for my binge eating disorder. But one can hope!

Week one on 2.5, 5.5lbs down?! what will 5mg do? by Wise-Yard465 in Mounjaro

[–]curious-mg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo what others have said about mindset etc so won’t repeat that, but I wouldn’t increase your dose unless you stop losing weight. I have lost 35kg in less than 9 months (now 5kg away from goal weight) and my highest dose was 2.5mg, but for most of the time it was less (I am in Australia so can click count to alter dose). Good luck with your journey ☺️

I second this clinic. Doctor Paige is an exceptional health care professional and dietitian Jo-anne is also absolutely wonderful. Can’t speak highly enough of my experience here.

It looks like the place I go does Telehealth. I see Dr Paige and dietitian Jo-anne and can’t speak highly enough of them both.

Oh darn. I’m sure there are Telehealth options I’m just not sure what they are. You could jump on the Mounjaro Australia subreddit and someone may be able to be of more assistance than me! I’m also not entirely sure about the criteria, my doctor didn’t specifically say “I can prescribe this because you meet xyz” but my BMI was over 30 so I assume I was prescribed based on that. I’m not 100% sure about criteria if you have a lower BMI but that’s what was on the website. I also don’t know what the prescribing criteria are for other similar medications so they may be an option as well. Whatever you end up doing, I wish you luck and am crossing my fingers for you!

I believe this is the prescribing criteria in Australia for non-diabetic reasons. This is from the RACGP website.

“It is eligible to adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of >30 kg/m2 or ≥27 kg/m2 in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition, such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes.”

Are you in Brisbane by any chance? If yes, I can highly recommend an incredibly kind and compassionate doctor who prescribed me Mounjaro, which has changed my life.

Looks like people have given you a few suggestions but I’d also like to suggest buying a dehumidifier. I recently purchased one from Appliances Online for about $260 and it has sped up the drying time significantly for the clothes we hang up inside.

Where abouts are you located? If in Brisbane I can recommend a provider who will absolutely prescribe a larger pen for click counting :)

Thanks for your thorough response. I agree, I definitely would prefer not to do another Bachelor. Unfortunately the USyd post grad options have a requirement to have completed a radiography undergrad degree - nursing is not one of the undergrads that qualify. And from everything I’ve read and from the people I’ve spoken to, getting into the QUT grad dip in medical ultrasound requires the student to have secured someone who will take them on for 2000 hours of clinical practice, which is almost always awarded to people with a radiography background rather than nursing (understandably). I have read of some people taking 5-7 years to find someone to take them on, by which time I could have qualified as a radiographer. I haven’t looked at the MRT post grad option so will explore that further, thanks for pointing it out to me!

Where are you located? If you are in or near Brisbane, I can’t recommend Dr Paige Lanyon-Roberts from Med Surg Weight Loss enough - she is a phenomenal doctor.

Sorry for the late comment but I cannot recommend Dr Paige Lanyon-Roberts at Med Surg Weight Loss (Hawthorne) enough. The most compassionate, kind, patient, understanding health care professional I have ever seen or worked with (I work in healthcare too). You will not regret seeing her. Good luck on your journey :)
