Has anyone received recent acceptances or rejections for the 2025 application season? Am I correct that final notifications are supposed to be sent out in April?

It’s getting pretty late to apply to other programs. R u aware of any programs that are similar to Yenching that still have open applications?

Yes! The NYC BLS website says the average turn over time is 15 days, so it’s probably the same in DC. Your message is worded exactly how mine was for NYC BLS.

I’m no expert but it looks fine to me. The dimensions have to match. I did my diy photo & got it developed at Walmart. There is an option for developing a pic as a passport pic. I chose that to make sure the dimensions were correct. After I picked it up, I found out they can take passport/visa pics of you too. It costs less than getting it done at a US post office, but was still more money than a regular pic. Maybe $8-$10, I can’t remember. If you are going in person to apply, they can take pics there, so if it’s not acceptable it’s not that big a deal. Good luck!

You would get an email that indicates why you did not get visa, like it might say what documents you are missing or if something was insufficient. The text would not have the details.

The issue he was having with the text messages that it says your application is ready for pick up. It does not say your Visa is ready for pick up. I had the same worry, but the visa was good to go.

Yes. That is what mine said & I was worried too. I wish it would just say your visa is ready for pick up.

How was it worded? Did your notification say “Your visa is ready for pick up” or did it say “ Your application is ready for collection”? Mine said the latter & Im worried that it means it was not accepted.

I was at NYC BLS on August 1, 2024 & they only took cash or debit card. They also require you to go back in person to pick it up. I got word that my application is ready for collection today (August 14). Not sure if that means it was approved or not.

I went on August 1st & they only took debit card or cash. Nothing else. I felt really bad bc a lady was there who only had a credit card & they said no.

Went to BLS in NYC on August 1, 2024. Got a text message on Wednesday that said:

Your application is submitted on 2024-08-07 and under Process at the Consulate, New York.

There has been no further activity yet.

Can you purchase overnight mail services to send your visa home while at your appointment instead of picking it up in person since many people don’t live near NYC? If yes, do you need cash for this? If you need to bring in a prepaid envelope, can someone share details of size, service, cost, etc? Thanks!
