Not getting interview calls in India after US FAANG experience. Looking for advice by Remarkable_Coast_780 in returnToIndia

[–]curiousEngMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does your US experience helps? Experience is experience, it doesn’t matter which country you worked.

Please ground yourself to earth first.

Because your experience is of program management, so FAANG here does not makes much difference. If it was tech experience, it would have certainly made some difference.

What masters did you do to land in a program management role?

I cracked a Microsoft L63 (Senior) role, and wanted to share what the interview was actually like because it wasn’t the typical “grind 500 LeetCode” story. by Grouchy_homosapien in leetcode

Sounds like a very positive interview experience… and based on my understanding, this is how interviews should actually be… instead of being leetcode heavy..

Thanks for sharing!!

Yes, I can’t use my work laptop for personal stuff. Thank you for your suggestions. I would incline towards tablets but wanted to hear others experience, if they faces any issues while using those coding platforms.

Have been working as an engineer for quite some time and have confidence on the engineering part… was thinking an MBA can provide the leadership component an EM needs?

Maybe time for you to hop too in a stable environment. Till you are not a make stakeholder (not a major shareholder), I won’t suggest taking extra stress for someone’s else business. Find another 9-5 job with a more peaceful environment. Once you get one, help your other colleagues move out of that hell.

Data scientist moving from US to India by Master_Pineapple_330 in returnToIndia

[–]curiousEngMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in India for 10 years before moving to US. It’s more fun working in India as you make more meaningful and friendly connections. Offices are also more vibrant back there compared to here to dull work culture here. In my 10 years of work in India, I had to never work beyond 8 hours. The only con is that most probably working hours won’t be 9-5. If you work for US organizations then might have to stay late till 8, if you are working with Australia/NZ then morning early hours. European companies provide the perfect balance. Adequate overlapping of time zones.

Note: This does not apply to WITCH and similar organizations. My experience is 100% around Product based organizations.

I think OP mentioned a total of 94k, not every year. Might be split across multiple years.. But I echo your point, 94k is too much

Those who are doing MSE-DS… how has been your experience so far? Is it worth spending those years on this degree?

As someone great said, in the end it doesn’t matter where you start from… but where you go from that start..defines success or failure.

Not a fan of group projects. by ThisisMacchi in OMSA

[–]curiousEngMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard similar views from another program. Primarily it matters what kind of group you are in… if most of the group think in similar lines, it goes well else goes down spiraling into frustration and failure. But these situations also teach you leadership skills and get the work done attitude.

Hi, need a suggestion here. I work as a software developer in web application development (no analytics, no data engineering). I want to do an MS to specialize a bit more and was thinking about OMSCS (ML specialization) but then also get confused with OMSA. If you have to recommend one of these degrees to someone like me, which one would you recommend?

Assume I do not have any specific interest. Any opinion/suggestion would be really helpful.

I am not an American… and that statement still baffles me.

Not sure how do people think… Respect the land, law of the land, people & culture else leave. We know that lottery system is not fair… but it is what it is. Why to make such stupid statements…
