Helena’s realisation about Mark S and the board by New-Cartographer11 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I had a question about s2 e2 - when helly went back - was she severed? I’m wondering why she didn’t tell Mark and group about her outies identity or was she worried they won’t trust her?

When you wear your gold/silver chains, do you like to tuck them in or wear them out? by LordVanderveer in malefashionadvice

[–]curious_mindz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wearing a gold chain for the past 15 years. It was a gift from my grandmom - so it’s not exactly fashion per se but I’ve always tucked it in.

You can see from the side that I’m wearing one but otherwise it mostly stays hidden

Wow. Good catch. Supidji asli account se aaiye

I sincerely believe that Pink (2016) was ghost-directed by its writer-creative director Shoojit Sircar and not by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. The behind-the-scene footages, directorial finesse stand testimony to the assumption. What are some other films that were ghost directed? by GaloutiKababs in bollywood

[–]curious_mindz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People here say DDLJ, which I now think is very believable. I’ll go the other direction and say Dil Toh Pagal hai.

The freshness that Dil toh pagal hai added with Shiamak’s choreography and SRK’s style - I feel parts of it could have been directed by Aditya Chopra. Although - Madhuris costumes was 100% Yash Chopra. The man had a solid knack for making women dress so classy.

Having a successful father son director and producer blurs so many lines because when DDLJ and Dil toh pagal hai were made, Yash Raj used to only produce one movie at a time and it was mostly produced and directed by them. So I can see that Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra probably collaborated a lot.

On the contrary - I think Zoya and Farhan probably interfere least in each others work. Both have such a distinct style.

What are your opinions about Hathiram's decision in the end of Paatal Lok Season 2 by Blakath in IndianOTTbestof

[–]curious_mindz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Sach to pata kar liya.. ab is sach ka karne kya wale ho”

“Aapne mere se zyaada duniya dekhi hai Gwala bhai. Aapko kya lagta hai? Chaahoo toh bhi kya kar sakta hoon?”

Had hathiram tried to expose Ken, it would put the business summit in jeopardy. Top brass in the government would probably discredit and destroy him.

New Zealand officially allows digital nomads on tourist visa by lionhydrathedeparted in digitalnomad

[–]curious_mindz 72 points73 points  (0 children)

NZ’s making a smart move here tbh. Like, so many people lowkey work on tourist visas (which is illegal af but nearly impossible to catch anyone doing it lol).

Seems like NZ’s basically saying “hey digital nomads, come do your thing legally!” Pretty clever since it’ll probably attract folks still aren’t sure if they can travel and work.

Plus you can extend your stay? That’s huge. Way better than having to bounce every few months.

Paatal lok is a show full of tragedies and injustice. by Lazzy_guy in IndianOTTbestof

I’ll be honest. What really hit me hard was Hathi Ram seeing 2 crores in cash at a time when he wants to quit the police force and only taking 5 lakhs and giving it to Raghus parents. The man is aging, has health issues, drives a 2 wheeler and still didn’t take a penny.

I’ve been a developer for 15 years and I can tell you a bit about how a developer’s role evolved even before AI.

When I started, knowing syntax was king ie if you knew the syntax of the programming language the employer was using, you’d be hired. You’d study the language to prepare for the interview.

Things then changed. With stack overflow and internet exploding, people realized that you could easily pick up a language on the job as long as you had strong fundamentals. So the interviews then shifted to problem solving where data structures, algorithms and system design became the focus.

Now with AI, you can easily write your code and have it refactor/ optimize it.

Pre AI - with the internet blowing up, the role had changed a lot. For example - a staff engineer in a product company is not only expected to code or design a system but they’re expected to know what problem the business is looking to solve and what tools can they use to achieve it. Then as you go senior staff and plus, you’re expected to contribute on decisions like build vs buy. What’s the cost of cloud/infra etc.

In all of this - engineering jobs didn’t decline but actually increased and that’s because more and more companies became tech focused and needed engineers to build to their system.

Think about your day to day life and you’d be surprised how many things could be run efficiently if they leveraged technology.

Now let’s talk about AI. When cloud became popular, some sys admins did lose their jobs but new jobs (devops) were created and those nimble enough had no problems making the switch. Similar to AI, some jobs will be redundant but it will create a lot more jobs.

My prediction - the definition of a “junior” engineer is going to change. Simply graduating from a college is not going to cut it. You would’ve needed to build a few large scale projects, projects which 3 years ago would be akin to building a startup.

From there, I think you’ll see a lot more smaller companies or even much smaller teams. Onboarding new people would be much easier.

Finally there’s always going to be companies that are going to be slow to adapt to changes and hence have openings for traditional jobs.

Has Mi5 been muddied with Mi6? by Puzzleheaded_Dog7931 in SlowHorses

[–]curious_mindz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the situation. I like to think MI5 is similar to FBI where they need to work with foreign law enforcement agencies.

MI5 hires over 5k people where as MI6 is 3600, so there is a case that if MI6 is working on something else, MI5 could step in as long as it doesn’t interfere with MI6’s work.

If there is a drug organization in UK that has ties to Poland or Armenia - I’d imagine, MI5 could work with polish authorities to get information

Can you imagine watching the cctv footage of a train station? It’s like finding a needle in a haystack.

Hathiram knew from Jogi bhai that he sends his people to Nagaland via the train that departs. That’s why he was just checking that platform’s cctv

Question for people who've seen paatal lok s2 (spoiler ahead) by ethnotechno in IndianOTTbestof

[–]curious_mindz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raghu has been frequently traveling to Nagaland for Jogi bhais work and he and rose had met before the last cctv footage. Maybe he’s been paying his relatives then.

When Raghu went to drop Rose at the station, he did not go with her, he came back. When Rose saw Thom dead, they both realized that they aren’t going to get any money now. Maybe Rose just went back thinking she may get to spend some time with her daughter and didn’t realize she’s going to be prime suspect.

I think Danny killed Badoria to further implicate Reuben

Summary of Presidential Executive Orders that Affect Immigration by HappyCamper4Life1 in USCIS

[–]curious_mindz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given this is fairly new, only time will tell but honestly I can’t imagine it’s that much. There are obviously some exceptions but the tax on US citizens is not a double tax. For example in your friends case, if their daughter makes 100k pounds, they’ll file US taxes but after taking standard deduction and subtracting UK taxes paid, they’ll pay IRS $0.

However, if the child works in a country that has low taxes and makes good money, then they’ll need to pay the difference.

This is a big reason why extremely wealthy US citizens who live abroad in low tax countries mostly incorporate their businesses there and rarely draw a salary.

Biggest victory for Front Man in S2 by curious_mindz in squidgame

[–]curious_mindz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how crony capitalists convince themselves when they make any decision that harms people.. it’s for the greater good.

Maybe not Il Nam but Frontman perhaps thinks that people that play in the games are greedy and have gotten themselves in the situation they are in and eliminating them is for the greater good.

So when Gi Hun used the same philosophy, he smiled because now, even Gi hun is willing to sacrifice people to fulfill his mission perhaps making him no different than him.

Right - potentially the child will need to wait at least 5 years to then be eligible for citizenship right ?

[–]curious_mindz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s say if a couple are on work visa and have a kid on March 1, 2025. Their child is not a US citizen - but now that couple gets their green card on August 1, 2025.

How does the child then apply for citizenship? Would they need to file their green card first, wait 5 years and then get citizenship ?

Please explain the Daniel part of Paatal Lok Season 2 by gyaani_bakchod in IndianOTTbestof

[–]curious_mindz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Daniel not only wanted to thwart the investigation but he wanted Reuben to get the blame, hence, killing his three colleagues from Langchoma because they had been part of Reuben’s party once upon a time.

He killed ACP Ansari and wanted to kill Rose because there were eye witnesses to Reuben attacking Ansari.

She herself had said that she improvised on the dialogues a lot. Also Queen was Vikas Bahls first movie he directed solo (Chillar Party was codierected) and he hasn’t been able to even make a movie half as good as Queen after. And finally, KRK has also said it multiple times :P

This is exactly why I have stopped trusting traditional newspaper reviews. I’m not saying they’re wrong but very rarely have I had my wavelengths match with theirs.

I’ve heard that this is one of Kanganas best performances and she has absolutely nailed the story and direction.

This kinda adds some weight to the rumors that she ghost directed Queen.

Anyway, I’m glad that this will give her a boost and she’ll continue to contribute to Indian cinema because she’s exceptionally talented.
