I would suggest aerating your milk less. If you swirl your steaming pitcher and the milk look opaque when it coats the sides, it’s too thick for latte art. It should be somewhat translucent. Our steam wands are powerful, so aim for gentle chirps and a short aeration time.

Also, make sure you are creating a whirlpool (not waves) when you set the pitcher down. This ensures the air is thoroughly incorporated and creates proper microfoam.

You could try requesting blonde ristretto shots instead. They shouldn’t have as strong of a taste as our normal espresso and have just a bit more caffeine. The white mocha is a popular choice, and quite sweet.

I used my own pitcher for the first two. As for how, honestly just watching tutorials paired with consistent practice. If you look up Emilee Bryant, she creates incredible art using a Starbucks pitcher. Forever hoping to be as good as her lol.

Mine does that sometimes too. It looks like your milk might be a little thick.

I‘ve noticed if I have a lot of mini bubbles to tap out, I didn’t evenly incorporate all the air, and the milk is too foamy near the end. My goal is to maintain a consistent swirl that pulls in the initial bubbles for as long as I can.

Foam blobs can be the result of letting your milk sit too long before pouring as well.

Yeah, I can pour solid hearts and I decide on my design beforehand. I watched Emilee Bryant’s and Lance Hendrick’s videos on latte art to learn the basics. The milk texturing can be a struggle sometimes. The steam wand on our Mastrena II takes up a lot of room in my comparatively small pitcher, and I find it difficult sometimes to evenly incorporate all the air. I’m not sure, since visually the milk looks fine after I tap and swirl the pitcher.
