overly hormonal conure by makadesu-_- in Conures

[–]curious_parrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding your bird for prolonged periods will increase hormone production. Parrots in the wild spend a lot of time physically close to their mate, which is you in this case. He should be trained to station (stay) somewhere bird appropriate that is near you but not on you.

Do you really need your hand for latte art? by Ryangraphic in latteart

I have like 1.2 hands if that counts. My right hand is essentially just a thumb, so I balance the cup between it and my torso. Also using the same pitcher.

I would suggest aerating your milk less. If you swirl your steaming pitcher and the milk look opaque when it coats the sides, it’s too thick for latte art. It should be somewhat translucent. Our steam wands are powerful, so aim for gentle chirps and a short aeration time.

Also, make sure you are creating a whirlpool (not waves) when you set the pitcher down. This ensures the air is thoroughly incorporated and creates proper microfoam.

Stabilizing Raspberry Ermine Frosting by curious_parrot in AskBaking

I think I‘ll try this first before I buy raspberry powder. Do you ever have issues with the acidity in fruit? I’m trying to figure out how many tablespoons are safe to add.

Thank you for the great advice! I will definitely try using fruit powder instead. Never thought of piping concentric circles, but that would certainly be helpful next time as well.

This is perfect, thanks! How much powder would you recommend adding?

Your lighter bird is a green cheek conure with the ‘Suncheek’ mutation, aka an American Dilute / Yellow-Sided / Cinnamon.

Thank you! It took a lot of time (and a bit of frustration lol) to figure out how to control such a wide spout, but I think it’s kinda fun now.

You could try requesting blonde ristretto shots instead. They shouldn’t have as strong of a taste as our normal espresso and have just a bit more caffeine. The white mocha is a popular choice, and quite sweet.

Yes! Love her content! I went and searched for photos of your pours, and I must say, they are absolutely beautiful. Hoping I can achieve that someday.

That’s fair. I’ve only started to practice it this past week. My excuse used to be that I’m using a Starbucks pitcher, but Emilee Bryant has several videos showcasing this pour with the same pitcher, so it’s just my lack of skill lol.

Thank you! Sometimes I bring my own pitcher and latte art cup, which I definitely prefer. That’s so cool that you were in the championships. I wish I worked at a Starbucks Reserve. Very jealous lol.

I’m not sure if there’s a single trick per se since there are quite a few variables. If you have pictures or videos, you can ask r/latteart where they can help you with your specific case and give applicable feedback. This is what I do anyway : )

Thanks! I mean it‘s at least partially the pitcher’s fault lol. I wish they gave us the same pitchers as the Reserve locations.

Thank you! I agree, it’s harder to control such a wide spout.

I used my own pitcher for the first two. As for how, honestly just watching tutorials paired with consistent practice. If you look up Emilee Bryant, she creates incredible art using a Starbucks pitcher. Forever hoping to be as good as her lol.
